The definitive answer is "it depends"!

I looked seriously at these earlier this year and opted not to buy. My Monty is a 2017 model with Dometics that are completely ducted units. Since there is no access inside the camper directly under the roof top units, it would require going on the roof and lifting the units to install. That's not something in my wheelhouse and the cost of a repair shop to do this would make it financially unfeasible. If your unit has Colemans or anything that has a interior shroud directly under the roof top unit, it's a pretty simple DIY job.

I submitted some questions on their website and the owner personally called me the next morning. I do believe they are on the right track; the key to efficiency on any AC system is in the air flow, not the brand of AC unit. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. He did emphasize that you had to measure the interior opening accurately to <1/8". These have to fit very snug or it will just create turbulance. The price of $170 each for a piece of molded foam seems a little pricey to me too.

I've read that the newer generation of Dometics have incorporated a similar piece into their design. I've also read that Grand Design (who uses Coleman) is incorporating the RV Airflow into their higher end models.

If you do opt to buy, by all means install on both units. The Keystone racetrack duct system basically has both units blowing against each other in the duct. If you vastly improve the air flow on 1 unit and not the other, it will likely decrease the efficiency of the other.

I have a 2022 HC and agree that the air flow is very light. I removed the vents in the bedroom and the flow improved greatly! The new blade pure vents are crap. I'm going to replace all of mine with the adjustable old style on the vents that I can reach. As far as improving plenum sealing you can do a lot of that yourself using the HVAC duct tape. There are lost of youtube vids.

We live in the Eastern Carolinas. Only travel where it is HOT, when it is hot. Great air flow plus COLD AC is a must. Ours is a 2019 HC. Thankfully we have a dump AC in the bedroom, or we would have had big problems.

Most Rigs have junk AC air flow. Debris is blocking the vents AND air seems to be directed everywhere but down outside the tiny little vents.

A few years ago, many people complained the air sound is too loud when running their AC. They probably life far north and rarely use ac (lol)...So, the quite cool system began, or so I was told. Around this same time, Many manufactures stopped the standard DUMP ac's for this epic failure. ---

My husband watched a few Youtube Videos on how to increase airflow. Someone copied one for your above ^^

Start with removing your current ceiling circular vents, see IF your airflow increases. Husband also replaced the plastic vents near the entrance of the rig (near kitchen) with cones he made out of flashing, white aluminum coil stock. Forces airflow in downward position.---M3 tape and staple gun does wonders.

We replaced all AC vents with ones we found on Amazon. "Valterra A/C Vent Spaceport".

Our AC is LOUD, blowing fast and cold. That is a sign it is working as expected.
Temps in our RIG hoover around 62-65 at 100 outside---I am not joking.

I hope this helps you in some way. Good Luck---keep us posted. It worked for us.

*we know what to look for now when checking out rigs. MUST have dump ac and, loud, fast and cold---hook her up and run that AC to 50amp before buying.*

Take a look at the Valterra model A10-3358VP vent louver. It's 5" diameter and will require some cutting to install. Believe it or not, a 5" diameter has >55% free opening than a 4". This model also has adjustable vanes and is far less restrictive than others I tested. I don't have all of mine replaced yet, but I've measured >30% increase in airflow in the ones I have replaced. I used a small oscillating saw to cut the hole out, pretty easy. As mentioned before; use the foil type HVAC tape with the peel off back to seal up the cut outs.

Take a look at your returns also. I pulled the trims off of mine and they weren't even cut out to full opening. I traced out the inner part of the trim and cut them out also. Anything you can do to improve air flow will make a substantial difference. Restricted air flow probably kills more ACs than anything else. Not only will it result in increased comfort level, it should increase the lifespan of the AC unit.

Please elaborate. I have a 2015 3582RL with 2 A/C units. It appeared to me that the rear unit is ducted and does feed the BR area, but the front/BR unit is just one opening. Does it also connect into the ducting that cools the rear area?

I was considering this DIY project for the BR A/C unit.
