Hello from Missouri
1st post ever.
My husband and I just closed the deal today on our 1st fifth wheel. Owned a 33ft TT for 7 years then evolved to a Park model. Now retired, ready to enjoy traveling this wonderful country. Did lots of research before deciding on a 2015 Montana 3610RL.
Pulling with a 2016 Sierrra 3500 diesel dually, our 1st pick up truck. Any tips or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Chris and Mark

Welcome to the forum. This advice is not specific to your new Montana.

You are not on vacation. Do not stop just to smell the roses. Stop and watch them grow.

Travel the back roads. Charles Kuralt said it best, " Thanks to the interstate highway system, you can travel coast to coast and not see a thing." Use the internet to seek out local attractions.

Join the Moose or Elks or both. Many lodges have RV sites and all are full or friendly people that can tell you what to see in the area.

Did I mention travel slowly?? Two hundred miles a day is our maximum.

If you find a spot you really love, talk to the park manager or volunteer coordinator. See if you can work for site.

Wave and be friendly. Talk to people. Have two extra chairs at the campfire.

Welcome! Read the posts on tires, pay close attention to hitching according to the hitch manufacturer, make wide turns slowly, regard backing a fifth wheel as a learning experience, lifes too short to get frustrated at issues that arise, and seek advice from the moc...your rv family. John

Thanks to you all for the welcome and great advice. We have an idea of where we are staying for the winter months. November and December. in central Florida. January, February and March in the Rio Grande Valley. We are so new to the 5th wheel world we haven't yet got our hitch installed. . We bought a Hensley. Anyone out there familiar with this type of hitch. ??
Thanks again for all your help

Welcome to this great Forum and Congrats on the new Monty ,sounds like you are off to a good start with the truck your are using that is for sure, and like was said before get rid of those ST E rated Trailer King tires(if they are still on) and get G rated LT tires for piece of mind and no worries of a Blow Out that would Really ruin any trip

We are looking at changing out those new E rated tires that came with our unit for upgrade G rated. Any idea what the cost might be. ? Love to hear what brands you all trust.
We decided on the Trailer Saver BD3 hitch.

Have you taken delivery and had a perfect pre delivery inspection? I just bought a new 375FL and it has been back for warranty repair over half its life. I hould not have driven it off the lot until it was perfect.

Mine came with St Ranier Tires. They seem to be OK and are not China Bombs being manufacture in Taiwan.

We'll be sure to take our time during pre delivery inspection now and thanks. !!
Haven't taken delivery yet. Still deciding on what tires to replace with. Thats such a volatile subject. Whoa !!! Its a fair distance from mid Michigan to our home in Missouri.
The plan is to park at a nearby campground for 1st overnight before heading back to Missouri.

Make sure your PDI list has AC temperature measuring with the coach outside. Do not forget to check the Water heater on gas and electric (mine was in need of adjustment on gas)also does the furnace light and sound good with a nice flame. I took mine direct from the dealer to a campground it was a wise decision.

Great advice. This is our 3rd RV but never used a PDI checklist. Googled PDI and found several " lists " including your items. Thanks so much. Oh, BTW we decided on the G614's and will have a tire dealer down the road swap them out before leaving the RV lot.

'nough said about the camper. I see that you bought the 3500 Denali as your first truck. GREAT CHOICE!! I have seen many purchasing a 2500 series vehicle (including myself) as their first tow vehicle and then finding out they need something that will support more weight (including me). The "It will pull it" mentality should be replaced with "Will it stop it?". Too many don't realize how much weight is placed on the truck once the fifth wheel is mated to the truck. It took me a while to figure this out. That is why the 2500 was replaced by the 3500 this past year. Good luck and get out there and camp. If you can swing it, attend rallies. You will meet a lot of GREAT people with the same interests.
