so I found this today.....

As I was opening up the trailer I noticed the pieces of plastic right above the slide out cover coming off, also if you look a little lower you will see what looks like some of the wall being gouged out. upon further investigation I noticed there is a screw inside the rubber moulding that has a screw inside of it, pictured by the rubber with a hole in it, yes its sharp. I took a picture of the outside showing no screw was ever put in that went through the face of the slide....

A picture of the same slide out showing more rubber moulding damage, and the roof of the slide wearing out at the corner?...

Thoughts on how to proceed ?

im so over this unit.....

initial thoughts are to remove and replace the rubber seals that are shot, while at the same time removing the screw..... as far as the wall is concerned...? the small plastic piece above the slide topper looks easy to remove and replace... are all these parts available online..?
Should I call keystone and have them take months to figure out what to do if anything??

You can purchase those rubber seals off amazon, cheap and easy to replace if you know how to use a screwdriver.I actually have a box in my garage right now. I just replaced the curbside slide out seal the other day. Took 10 minutes, just remember to put conditioner on seals, every once in a while and you should be good.

Just curious...which slide is that?
Bedroom?
Kitchen-Fridge?
or Dining Table?

This is exactly what I get for mine, this should be the same for yours. Just look and see if the corner molding screws are what hold it in. Then you know for sure it's this type.

Edit: this is for the actual slide side not wall side. The post above mine will work for wall side , that has the red strip that pulls off so you can stick.

Does anyone have any thoughts about the exterior wall where the screw was digging into the exterior wall..?

on the first picture, does anyone know what the replacement piece would be to cover the screws? The plastic strip is falling apart and cracked. I did replace the seal so thats all done !

Is there any way you can take a picture of the actual slide outside seal? The picture needs to be toward the top right. I am curious about how long the screw is, that is used to secure the top plastic molding and that bulb seal. If you can see the actual screw or the presence of that screw behind the molding, it is too long. The screw should not go through the bottom of the seal. It just needs to push up against the bottom(In order to hold the seal in place), this is where the bottom of the seal fits into that rail part.

Also, something to consider, if the screw is a little longer or tightened beyond the standard point and your slide-out is misaligned where the slide-out meets the wall. This is what could be causing that mark. Have someone press the button inside and watch to see if it is closing misaligned. Then check to see if the sides are equally closed(make sure one slide is not tighter than the other) you will be able to visually see. Also, your user manual will tell you how tight it should be. This might actually be the complete problem.

Last question do you have Accu slde or Lipper?

I was able to take care of the screw and install the new seals all is good there. The screw will no longer dig into the side. Just wondering what I should do about the damage the screw did to the wall. Yes the screw was to long but it’s good now !

To wrap up this project I just have the wall and the piece above the topper to replace. Don’t know what that piece is called....?

I would first contact Keystone and see what they suggest. If it sounds like a push off answer, you can go to an auto parts store and get a fiberglass fix kit and mix and fill the hole. Or get Bondo and resin and fill it that away. after hardened. sand down till flush, then paint color you want. I know this is not the optimal fix but it will work and should stop any spread of further cracking.

Not sure about topper, what is specific problem again.

thats what I figured too... might need to call them and see what they want to do about it....

If you look at the first picture right above the slide topper there is supposed to be a piece of hard plastic, or hard rubber there, its cracking and some is missing, maybe from sun damage.... doesn't really get that much but either way, im not sure what that piece is called to get a replacement ordered....

Thanks

Tony

I think you are talking about the Rv trim insert, you can also find that on Amazon, you can get it by 25ft,50ft, and 100ft. This trim is cheap, just type in Rv trim Insert and find what color and length you want. I hope this helps.

That is the exact one I was looking at, I actually am buying some as well. I need to redo some around the bottom of the nose on mine.

I use Protect All Rubber Seal treatment. It's a foam. I spray it on & wipe in with my hand with slide in & slide out. Amazon, Walmart & CW sell it.
