pin location won't matter. ive read people have put the 5th wheel plate up to 5' behind the rear axle. mine is about 3' behind. realize that you have 9000lbs or more on the steering axle as it sits. the rear axle is rated for 20k lbs. you might get 8k on it if you are lucky.

Some of the larger motor homes are getting 12.7L Detroits. They are not series 60s, but called DD 13s. 500 HP and 1,650 torque.

Very nice and safe TV. Probably won’t have a big debate as to it’s ability to safely tow your unit :-)
First setup like yours that I saw was back about 15-20 years ago and I thought it was a great idea.

Wow! Nice rig! The camper looks like she is riding a little more on the rear axel. Could be the camera angle. Great rig!

I have a manual shift 10 speed Eaton.
The pin weight most likely won't ever be over 4k. No worries on weight distribution on the rear axle. The benefit is, it will back like a bumper pull.

The motor homes usually have the Allison 4000.

congrats on the volvo!
We had a volvo 610 singled long with the eaton auto shift.

Couple of things we learned
Swapping out the shocks on the cab / chassis to ones rated for the lighter load is a huge improvement. Ours road better then the wife's denali.

They really don't like low batteries or bad grounds; keep those connections clean and the batteries charged. It will save you pain and heartache in the future.

The pin to axle position is very forgiving. Ours was setup to have 3 quads on the deck with the 5th wheel behind them; the pin was about 30inches behind the rear axle. Even in that config the weights on the axles were happy and in spec.

Enjoy the rig; they are a blast!

You'd be surprised, about a month after we got the 610 my wife was at the helm. On the interstate, they are significantly easier to drive then any pickup. Total chill experience.

Now in traffic or congested areas, less chill

The new 2020 GM 2500/3500 HD SRW SB trucks have the pivot point 2" behind the rear axle from the factory with the factory pucks. Not for sure about the LB trucks...

Yep, the sleeper/team units you see dragging FedEx wiggle wagons down the highway are contractors and are responsible for their own maintenance. Your truck should serve you well for a long time though.

I love it!
Curious, how much fuel does it carry and what kind of mpg's do you experience?
Finally, what does a rig like that cost? If you prefer a PM is fine.
Awesome rig!!!

My wife and I are down to pickups in our family, and the newest one is her dailyi driver. Somehow, I don't think that this would have been acceptable as her daily driver.
