You made me out to be a liar Wayne. We have a clock over the hot-tub at the house, which is still on the "old" time. The youngest one asked why I didn't adjust the clock so it was right. My response was that it would be "right" soon when the time changes. When did it change she wanted to know, October, I replied, when does it change back, April I told her.....Dangit!!!! Now I have to set the record right so she doesn't think dear old Dad is a dastardly denier of our government's hold on our life.....errr, I mean time!! I am looking forward to an extra hour of daylight in the evening though, lots of projects around the house need done! Thanks for setting me straight!!!

Well, crap. What happened to it changing in April?
We leave here the 14th. I'd planned on arising a little bit early to break camp but now it looks like I'll lose yet another hour of sleep! March 14, huh? What happened to April for DST???

We must be getting old Steve. Check this out:
daylight
It appears that it changed in 2007 by an Act in 2005, and to further complicate it, I was just as wrong about October, it is November now.
Jeeeezawhizzzz!!!

Getting old? I think I must already be there, Bingo!
Wayne, thanks for the headsup. This clearly slipped my mind.

Steve,
We are leaving on the 14th also. Going to San Antonio first. I'd like to get out of here between 9-10, but I never know when the decrepit body will get out of bed. I already plan on going to bed 1 hour earlier (yeah! Right!) so I can leave on time. I'm bringing the SOB home on Wednesday and start playing with it and packing it.
Bingo, just tell her it is a government conspiracy to make dads look bad! HEE! Earlene told me it changed Sunday, and I questioned her thinking on it. She said it was on the calendar. I looked at the calendar in the kitchen and sure enough it was there. She said, "Now go check your calendar!" So I did, and lo and behold, it was on that one also. Not to be confused, I did a Google search on Daylight Savings Time, and I'll be darn, it's the 14th.

And thanks to that new law all of the clocks that adjusted automatic to daylight savings time now have to be set manually. That includes the controls for the furnace and air. Twice each time, once to set it back after it auto changes and again when the time does change. Both spring and fall.

I had not even thought about that. Looks like I'll loose another hours sleep when it auto changes. Darn!

We are in AZ so don't have to worry. In case anyone is new to AZ, they do not do daylight savings time. It is confusing because part of the year AZ is the same as CA (where our families are) and part of the year they are an hour earlier.
Happy trails.................

Okay! Question.
How do the clocks know when to change? Is it based on a sync pulse from the National Observatory? Or is it built into the clock.
I'll have to research that.

WOW! Thanks for that link, Wayne.
I read it word-for-word until my eyes crossed because my magnum foreamon cross-referenced my imagdalla area due to the binary-coded decimal reference not immediately jiving with the WWV sub-audible digital radio-controlled time-clock message, thus inducing an unexpected ratio unbalance.
This was quickly unscrambled, though, when I found the following to be self-explanatory:
In the diagram above, the red and yellow bars indicate the presence of the 100 Hz subcarrier, with yellow representing the higher strength subcarrier (#8722;15 dB referenced to 100% modulation) and red the lower strength subcarrier (#8722;30 dB referenced to 100% modulation). The widest yellow bars represent the markers, the narrowest represent data bits with value 0, and those of intermediate width represent data bits with value 1.
The example shown encodes day 86 (March 27) of 2009, at 21:30:00 UTC. DUT1 is +0.3, so UT1 is 21:30:00.3. Daylight Savings Time is not in effect (DST1=0), and will not be in effect tomorrow (DST2=0). There is no leap second scheduled (LSW=0).
Thanks again. I hope I get to post this reply before the butterfly net descends upon me.
Larry

Yep! Looks like you got it right. I'm glad I was not the only one to understand it.
