New Truck

Well Georgia and I have ordered a new Dodge 3500 Laramie, 4x2, Quad Cab, Cummings Diesel, we will have to wait about 3 months for it to be made. It does everything but blow my nose. Color is Inferno Red Pearl Coat Exterior Paint. 410 gears, tan interior leather.
I didnt get much for the old Ford trade in value was a slap in the face, they said what do you expect for a 13 year old vehical? got 4K, I guess I could have sold it PP and got 7K for it with all the improvements I did to it, but I dont have to mess with it, just hand it over and drive out with a new truck.
All I have to do now is wait for it to be made and delivered.

I think you made a good choice, when I was looking I checked paper for used trucks and there were no Dodges. So I thought there must be a reason and I was rigt. In 04 we got our 3500 same setup and now have 76000 on with no repairs!! Good choice I think

Congrats on the new TV. Sure is nice to drive a new one.....We love ours, albeit a Chevy. I had a Dodge Dakota V8 for 14 years and had nary a problem with it. Jumped ship to Chevy as I wanted the Duramax/Allison Combo. Did you get a long bed or a short bed? I did have a SB Chevy 2500 prior to this LB 3500, what a difference! Anyway, good luck with the newbie...The wait would kill me.......

We have an 08 Dodge and love it. The 6 speed auto and exhaust brake work great. It holds back our 2955 great on the hills and if you want to slow it down more you can shift the tranny down with the shift switch. The CTD has all the power you need, you have to watch your speed as it just wants to get up and go. i was always a Ford man until it came to the diesel and having worked on Cummins for 30 years in all environments there was no question on what to buy. Enjoy your new truck when it comes in.

Don and Georgia,

Congratulations! You will love that Dodge. They are very nice. But given the current condition of the auto dealers are you sure you want to have one built? I'd think there would be one sitting somewhere in a parking lot with your name on it! Sure hope the wait works for you.

Congrats on the TV, I know you will love it like we do our 07. Ours is Inferno Red as well but a Mega Cab short box. With the way things are it makes one wonder if one will ever be built, but we will keep our fingers crossed that all goes well.

Don,

Just my opinion but I'd stay with the 4:10 gears. They don't give you much worse mileage and you get much better towing ability.

I sure hope it works out for you. Who knows they may actually get the thing built before they quit!

Good choice of truck...We are huge fans of the Cummings diesel.IMO there is none better. Unfortunately the Dodge truck does not come in the configuration we required. (CC,LB.)

Congratulations on your new truck. With Chrysler closing all of its plants til Jan. 19th, was that factored into your delivery date? Dennis

As you can tell by our sig, we love our Dodge. I'm a fan of the 3.73,10.5 towing and 16 solo. We are 4x4 so your 4x2 with the 4.10's shouldn't be much, if any difference. Stay up with your flashes and make sure you watch the overhead and idiot lights. Replaced our turbo /@ 8k and the only warning was a CEL. Steve

When you receive your Vin they should also have the build date. On mine when it reached St Louis it was pulled off the train for quality control then was expedited the rest of the way.

Ok have any of you Dodge truck owner know anything about this statement somebody directed me to.

http://www.check-engine-light-proble...FQrFGgodShAGCw

I know that all vehicles have there problems, but does this problem shut the truck down, and not run anymore untill a service mechanic looks at it?

Can't imagine why anybody would send you that, it is for the 2007 Dodge. If you go here you can read up on the Dodge trucks.

I think that was a past problem and has been taken care of, I could be wrong but I believe you will find that shouldn't be a problem. I don't know about Dodge but the GM Trucks will go into whats called Limp mode. GM has this programed into the ECM so as to prevent major damage to the power plant or the Transmission, as we called it in the military, GI proof. The manufactor puts long warrantys on the Trucks so they try to prevent damage to a expensive Engine.

Who knows what we will be driving to pull the heavy 5er's but there will be 1 ton Trucks made, don't know who will make them but there is a big demand for HD Trucks.

Choices are what we have now, and everyone has the choice. I never say your Trucks is not as good as my Truck, but many people will. Many of the problems we are having with the new Trucks are emissions related and as you know when you try to make changes to great Diesel engines there is always problems. Many of the changes aren't work a nickel, but the people who are pushing this have never owned a Diesel engine. That Dodge will do the job for you and I think its a good choice for pulling the Montana. GBY..

Thanks, you put me at ease, I have had the old Ford for 13 years and had no problems, I want the newer type motor because they are stronger and less poluting than the early years, and I want more cab room too.
