Cleaning woodwork

Unfortunately, the 'Search' function is smarter than I am and I can't seem to find anything.

What do you all use as a cleaning agent for the woodwork inside the 5er? I reckon oil wouldn't work as the real wood has a coating or two of urethane on it. I have been using those all-purpose wipes but would like some input.

I've been thinking about using Murphys or Awesome. But hesitate. Don't want to ruin the finish.
I cook a lot, so I need to clean the kitchen area.

try using a product called "Orange Glo", specifically for wood. I would also use Murphy's, but the Orange Glo works good for kitchen gunk, etc and does not harm the woodwork, so one bottle for a few more uses. You also do not have to mix it, just spray on the surface or your duster thingy. A fluffy carwash mitt helps you get in all the corners and covers more territory quicker too. just store in a baggie for next time, wash when needed.

My Mom and Dad had a mobile home that was mostly paneling. They use to use Panel Magic on it once a year.

Al and I just had to do a major cleaning in our basement, including the wood paneling. We used a mixture of Dawn dishwashing soap and a little bit of bleach. Just a little.

Gotta say, that paneling has never looked as good, nice shine to it.

Did not rinse.

I would consider using same in Tana, although I have been using baby wipes for dusting (like cabinet door tops, top of slides, counter tops, etc.) Cannot beat them for easy, fast, and toss in the trash.

Be careful in there...it is not all wood - only the cabinet faces are.
The rest is vinyl made to look like wood.

We have found over the years that the cabinet doors do not have a very good finish on them, and like Ozzie says, a lot of the cabinet is just a plastic like coating. One of the first things I do with the cabinet doors is to take them down, "lightly" sand the rough edges, (you know the snags you get when trying to dust?) and then I coat the doors with a POLY Urethane (water borne) Clear gloss finish. It makes it a lot easier to dust and wash both. As far as the plastic finish goes, they tell me you can also coat that with the Poly finish, but I am a bit Leary of that, seems to me it would just bead up, so I just wash the sides with Dawn dish soap & water.

I have used Murphy's soap to clean the cabinets. This is diluted in water, and then I go back with the Orange Glo as previously suggested. The soap will clean the gunk off and the Orange Glo gives the cabinets a little shine. It doesn't soak in because of the urethane, but for the unused cabinets it keeps it shine for a good while.

I use Pledge Wood furniture polish. Shines, restores, refreshes.
It does a super job and leaves it looking like new.

My favorite polish to use on the wood portion of cabinets is Guardsman...............it is wonderful..........gives it a waxy finish that will not allow water to penetrate. I have used it for years and can be found at Ace Hardware.
