I've been called a lot of things ... but
I've always considered myself as a recreational camper (4-5 weeks a year camper). Today I found out I was a "Glamper" and that what I really do is "Glamping". With all the bells and whistles we've all come to expect on today's RV's I hear we have been characterized as "Glamor Campers" thus "Glamping". So be it ... I spent lotsa time out in a tent waking up stiff as a poker and several nights slapping my kids hands during a rain storm so they wouldn't rub the inside of the tent and make water start to drip in. I've no notion to relive that time in my life, so I R a "Glamper" ... now where's my remote, the second A/C needs to come on!

Are you talking about the " GOOD OLE DAYS" ? Do you remember when our parents and friends used those terms and we just rolled our eyes!

Call it what you want...our daughter says the same.
No way I am mopping under tents, drying out pop up canvas, etc.
The fridge in the Monty is larger than the on in my house, I have 1 TV in my house..2 in the Monty, sleep number bed in both, heated bathroom floor in the Monty but cold tile at home. Aren't we just camping like everyone else?

If your not Glamping in Kansas today, you better stay in the water.

No problem here. I have also spent many a night on the ground in a tent. And when very young, family camping meant sleeping on a cot outside with no tent. OK, for the younguns. But not this old dude.

My wife has used that expression for a few years now. Quite a few years back at a campground for RV's and tents I was told camping in our Vanguard wasn't really camping. We went for a day drive and got back to the campground after basically a flash flood rain storm. All the tents and sleeping bags etc were hanging in trees to try and dry out. You could see where we had water about 6"/8" deep under our unit. Everything inside was nice and dry. I chatted with the people who told me I wasn't really camping and there view of RV's had changed a bit. :-). Call it what you want but I say I like to enjoy my camping/glamping and the hot shower, satellite TV etc.i still have a tent etc and there are certain places for it to be used. It would be hard to pull an RV up Hells Canyon Snake River behind my boat.
To each our own way of doing things.

I love sleeping in my tent if my camper is near by but staying in a tent I don't think so.

Many years back....we had a class A Motorhome that we sold after using it for several years while my son was racing in motocross. We traveled quite a bit during that time. When the son started high school, the motocross and traveling to races no longer appealed to him so we sold the Class A. After having our class A we were somewhat relieved to be rid of the "big thing" and decided that it might be a good idea just to go back to tent camping....whaaaat? We bought a very nice 2 room tent and some blow up air mattresses...thinking..we can do this!!! Ha, that lasted 1 camping trip...never again!

We're not camping or glamping. We're living
Ahhh for the good old days of a sleeping bag rolled out in the back of that '64 Country Sedan.

Besides...I thought you had to have a vintage trailer to Glamp. Guess I need to check the official definition.

I love to Glamp, especially after many years of tent camping, including on a bicycle in Europe......in the rain, I still get cold thinking about it

I've never claimed to be 'camping' even when we're boondocking out somewhere in the woods. There is a difference and I've done my share, including one night in a tent at 9k feet and three feet of snow. I'm not doing that anymore EVER and don't care if someone wants to try denigrating what we do - it's called "RVing"!

Glampers r us. Kinda hard to call what we do camping, but at 70 and 63, we appreciate the change.

I have found that the person calling you a glamper is commonly found in a tent or tent trailer

Did tent camping as a boy scout, loved it. Most kids probably do. Then came the military. You won't believe some of the places I've been "billeted". Airplane hangers, quonset huts, Iranian military quarters with no mattress and a communal pit toilet as a few examples. You do what you're told. When we all were younger we did things differently. Now that we have matured, it's time to enjoy the fruits of our labor. I think I earned my comfort both at home and in my RV. Been RVing for 13 years now and not once do I miss "roughing it". Been there, done that, prefer RVing. Call it what you want, call me what you want, rain or shine I'll have an actual roof over my head.

X 10!! I wouldn't be on this forum and the only Montana I would know about was the state if it depended on laying on the ground in a sleeping bag and no AC. DW would not accept the upgrade to using a cot and fan either. But she loves our Monty!
