In a nutshell, they are greaseable spring hanger bolts, if you have a grease nipple on your bolts, then you have them, if you don't you don't have them.

And the shackles are thicker and therefore stronger.

Here is a link to the Mor/ryde HD shackle upgrade kit. Benefits are a much stronger hanger and the ability to grease the bolt helping to prevent wear. In some cases the original ones have seized up and broken, they need to move freely as the springs are moving up and down.
I would say they are worth the investment.

If you do not have wet bolts, you really should consider installing a set.
What set you need will be determined by what you have for a center carrier.
http://dexteraxle.com/heavy_duty_suspension_kits
http://www.morryde.com/aftermarket/suspension.html
IF you are under there making changes you might want to also consider a product from Mor/Ryde called X Factor
http://www.morryde.com/aftermarket/r...r-ryde-60.html
I have the wet bolts, CRE/3000 center support and the X factor. I consider all necessary.

Here is a slide-show I made when I did my suspension work, it shows the wet-bolts, might clear up the question with pictures.

Finally got to replacing my new wet bolt replacements they sent me. Did mine on gravel also. replaced 2 that were not getting grease. The front spring hanger wet bolts were not getting grease. The original were put on at factory after making trip plans to be in Elkhart. Two of the original wet bolts turn inside the bushing, but they do take grease. The serrations on the bolt would not hold in place. The two I replaced did not seat all the way into hanger bracket, about an 1/8 inch shy. torqued them to 50 or 60 lbs, can't remember. Now everything is getting grease.

I'm hoping to find a set under the tree in the morning. It's definitely an upgrade I want to add.

I installed my wet bolts about 3 years ago-great decision. Also remember to grease them on some periodic basis. They do require maintenance. Mor Ryde admitted to me after two of the wet bolts stopped taking grease that this is problem that occurs on some units. It was not like it seldom happens. I replaced the two that failed and keep on going down the road. Hopefully Mor Ryde will make some internal improvement to increase the life span on the wet bolts.
I grease mine annually with typical towing of 4000 to 8000 miles per year.
