HepVo Valve Replacement

I have a 2011 Montana. It has a HepVo valve in lieu of a ‘P-Trap’ in the shower drain. Are there any guidelines on when, or if, this valve needs to be replaced, or just wait until you get a holding tank smell? Also, when winterizing, should anti-freeze be poured down the shower drain if a HepVo valve is installed?

Unless you have a problem with shower draining or bad odor as you mentioned there is no maintenance required for it. It is OK to use antifreeze. Never put any type of device down the shower drain to remove blockage as it will likely damage the valve. Instead, remove it and clean it out.

We just started picking up odor from our shower and I found a couple little cracks in the top of the flexible material in the Hepvo valve which I'm sure is where the odor is coming from. I just received a new valve I ordered from Amazon, now just have to get into the pass through to remove the plastic wall behind the convenience center so I can change the valve out.
