Awning too high

WE have a 2019 Montana 3720 RL fifth wheel. The awnings go straight out and we do not have the ability or knowledge to adjust and drop the pitch to accommodate the sun and weather. Previous campers we have owned had bars that would slide up and down so you could tilt one side or both sides. We are not able to do this now. Any suggestions. Thank you Jerome & Judy

If you have the electric awnings now. Then this is a feature they do not support. A sun screen and a tall step ladder. I do not like the automatic awnings just for this reason. I still stake my awining down with a hold down strap and spring. which is easy to do in a situation of costal weather or questionable weather conditions by dropping the arms and adjusting to my
liking.
I don't think the newer electric awnings are adjustable at all and would not support being tied down. They do not seem to be as sturdy and durable. These are just my thoughts.

Others will say this is unnecessary with the electric and automatic awnings. They will automatically retract in adverse wind conditions. Just another feature to fail eventually.

What is the status of your TV. Was it a good outcome for you guys?

These threads and youtube video might be helpful depending on your awning type.

I am not quite understanding. All of the fifth wheel awnings (that I have seen)are mounted up high and have a pretty good pitch downward. Ours does not need any adjustments to get water from pooling. And most of them have the ability to tilt one side or the other to pitch it in one direction.

This is the correct way. We have done this several times.

I too am not a real fan of these new electric awnings but that's now life with an RV.

The video is a good one. They do leave out one facet and that's to angle the awning from ene to end using those adjusting knobs to keep it in place. A torrential downpour can belly the fabric down and fill with water. The potential is at minimum, a failed fabric or worse, a broken roller tube. I also, since there is no wind sensor, anchor it down as it will rattle in anything more then a gentle breeze.

A Carefree of Colorado SunShade is a great add on though their supplemental (more$$) end piece is a waste of money for new design awnings since it has no good way to attach properly https://www.amazon.com/Carefree-7015...6630169&sr=8-9

I posted about this as well. I’m 6’3” with a 37” sleeve. I can’t reach the forward knob either. I built this from a 4’ PVC pipe and a dremel. I throw a strap over the arm to pull it down and tighten the knob using the PVC pipe.

It’s 4 feet long. That’s one apostrophe not two. Hard to see that. Had to enlarge the writing on my phone to see if I typed it correctly
