Cabinet Locks

Currently in our Montana when we get ready to move, we use Bungy cords to keep the cabinet doors shut. Does anyone have a cabinet door lock/latch that would still look nice for general use and still lock up the doors so they don't pop open going down the road?

We try the child proof lock, and they work but they can become a pain too. I would like to just turn a key or know and lock them into place.

I know if there is an idea for these, it will be on this site. Everyone is so helpful.

I am not sure what hardware came in your 2014 Montana, but someone here will know. We have one cabinet that DW wraps a mini-bungee cord around the handles to keep it from opening in transit. But now that I think about it I don’t remember when or if it was popping open - but we bungee it closed. It is the cabinet over the “coffee bar” just inside the door.

In a couple of my past RVs I replaced friction catches with magnetic catches.

I have replaced all the al-cheapo cabinet door latches, with Heavy Duty Magnetic Latches and nothing comes open.

Our new unit came with heavy magnet latches that hold well. Prior to that, we used these locks. https://www.amazon.com/Safety-1st-Magnetic-Locking-System/dp/B00WDE2JM8/ref=sr_1_18crid=XJUW2PICBW2&keywords=safety+1st+ca binet+lock&qid=1653278543&sprefix=Safety+1st+%2Cap s%2C210&sr=8-18 We stored the magnet in the drawer by the entry door. Just attached it to the screw that held the drawer pull on.

Like Ron's, on our unit the magnetic catches never come open - we use tension rods to keep the contents from hitting the doors

These catches work so well that the doors can be hard to open. We use 1" adhesive loop (the soft side of Velcro) to cover the metal catch plates to make the doors easier to open when we're going to be someplace for a while. Our checklist includes removing the loop piece and sticking it on the side of the magnet for reuse.
