Here was my upgrade
For the OP I installed my 4 Trojans today removing the two 12v. As you can see the battery box barely fits but is doable. Even if you only buy two 12V you should still buy the 4 battery box so you can easily upgrade. You can just build a filler to take up the extra space.
As mentioned above I purchased 4 Trojan T105 Plus 225 AH $125 Ea no tax and no core required ($500 total ) https://www.onlinebatterysale.com/store/
the Battery Box was purchased from All Battery Sales and Service $80 https://allbatterysalesandservice.co...atteries-gcq-g
I bought the 2" vent for the lid from Amazon $5
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...0?ie=UTF8&th=1
I Just ordered the Watering system for $79 so they will for the most part be Maintenance free as I will gravity feed the system.

Total Cost of new 4 new batteries and box $665

Nice setup, but it is incorrectly wired. Either the + or - lead needs to move to the other end of the parallel connection.

Is there any concern with the lithium batteries overheating?

Your signature shows the battle born lithium batteries - did you not like them and replaced with the flooded trojans?

I went with a pair of AGM 6 volts from Amstron on sale from atbat.com
Great battery, great price.
Actually thinking about getting two more for a total of four to enhance our dry camping ability.
I would recommend spending the extra money on the AGM technology whatever brand you get. Trojan also makes AGM...
https://www.atbatt.com/amstron-ap-gc...cycle-battery/
Below is a simple graphic showing the correct wiring of (4) 6 volt batteries in a series/parallel configuration.

Actually the preferred wiring is Positive to one bank of the series and the Negative to the other bank of the series (where the two series are paralleled).

It seems like the two diagrams are showing the same thing...or am I having a "senior moment"?
Where is the difference between the two?

On the second drawing the positive comes off the upper left and the negative off the bottom right. I'm certainly no expert and I couldn't tell you why it's better that way.

Got it...thanks! I see that now, but I'm not sure if (or why) that difference would matter electrically?
I guess if nothing else, just to be consistent with the connections it would be possibly a better choice...

I learned about this a long time ago. It has to do with equalizing the charging. I tried to find the supporting doc but Google has failed me (once again). It is out there somewhere.

I have seen that documentation as well but don't have it. In the first pic the positive and ground cables are in the same "string" so to speak. Current flow going from pos to neg will try to go from the 12+ positive connection to the 12v- connection. In that most of the current will travel through the top 2 batteries with the other 2 as sort of "supplements". In the bottom picture the 12v+ connection is on one string and the 12v- connection is at the end of the other string forcing the current to flow through all 4 batteries equally. At least this is what I think I remember...if it makes sense.

Yes, that does seem to make sense!
It seems like either way would "work" but if there is a "best" way to do it, that's what we should always be looking for!
Appreciate the info...

I’d like to see the documentation. How much of a difference does it make?

Like Carl said, the docs are out there if you take the time to try to hunt them down. Just thinking about it, if you know how electricity flows, it makes sense.

Yeah it's probably a kin to a NASCAR tire being a half a pound low on air. Probably doesn't really matter to the average person
