TV mount in storage bay

Has anyone mounted a TV swivel wall mount to the wall in the storage area where there is a cable hookup? And if so how and did you need to reinforce the wall? Thanks!

TV mount

Forum member Lightsout provided blow-by-blow excellent instructions for what he did in this thread from February this year...

Added small TV

We added a small 24" flat screen TV in our storage area and seems to be OK. We were worried about the TV being there in the winter time or rainy weather. I found out thru this forum that it was OK to leave a TV in there all the time. As far as reinforcing the mounting area I may be wrong but I think its all ready done at the factory. I used some good sized screws to attach the mounting hardware and they all took hold very nicely.

Adding the television and mount is one of my projects for the weekend. I plan on adding more screws to hold the panel to the frame (there are only 4 screws holding it in place now) and then install the mount to the existing panel. I will try to post some pictures when I am done.

I don't think I would be very comfortable watching tv in my storage bay.

Ours came with a mount but it got replaced with a better one with a longer swing out arm. It had some reinforcement on the back side but, again, that too got reinforced with some better plywood since the puny (junk) 19", 12VDC TV Keystone supplied was replaced by a 27" Vizio.

Just a note -before you spend the time and a few bucks, figure out how often you will actually use that TV. In two plus years, I've used mine, maybe, six times, preferring my LaZ-Boy and that nice cool a/c

I found a TV Slide Swivel mount for my tv. I have a Small storage bay so all I could use was a 32 inch tv. It is a Morryde Tv Mount. I painted 2x3's black and mounted them in my storage to give me support and clearance.here is the link to the one i got.

I was going to go that route originally however most of our TV watching is during daylight hours (like most sports televised are daylight hours) plus here in WA it stays light until almost 10PM during the summer. Since that mount requires the TV to be completely outside the basement for us glare would have been a major issue. That is why I recessed my TV mounting.

Even being recessed I ended up adding struts to the basement door to use as a visor.

I have considered doing this and adding a piece of plywood to protect the screen (basically boxing in the TV when it is in storage bay) and allow me to put other boxes in front of the TV without worrying about scratching the screen (maybe felt the inside of plywood too?). I want to say I saw one of the RV companies had a TV mount designed specifically for pass thru storage boxes?

If you have a white sided camper, I have seen a few folks use a projector and it work fairly well for after dark (doesn't work at all during daylight though....).

I Simply use a $4 packing blanket from Harbor freight and make sure I pack so nothing close than cold damage. However the ride in the front Basements is not to bad we do not find that anything really moves.

That is subjective in that many with Legacy PKG have a the command center wiring on that wall along with the Vacuum system. And because that wall may require access behind it in the future for maintenance you should look at the other wall on the front side. IN My case when I used the front wall I was also able to bolt through the frame making my mount vert solid.

Now if you are talking a swivel mount keep on mind that most of the swivel mounts will not go to 90 degrees. also Tv 32" or larger will require a very long arm to allow swivel of larger TV's. I installed a 40" so swivel was not an option.

Then there is the slide out Moryde mount that mounts to the wall and then slides completely out of the RV then the screen will swivel. Problem with that the TV is then in full glare of daylight (so hard to watch during the day) and also exposed to the elements. That mount is also very expensive.

Anyway the size of TV will be a factor as for options.

We had a 32" outside on our Class A and it was a bit too small especially for sports, the 40" is perfect. I should note we have a 3791RD since not all basements are the same

I have a Morryde sliding TV wall mount in my storage bay. Slides out 36”. I have a 50” tv mounted on it. Locks into place when traveling. Love it.

I took off the thin black wall and fit a piece of 3/4 plywood between the aluminum frame and put the black wall back on. Works great few screws to hold in place

Our 3731FL came with a tv outside. I used it once to watch a football game while DW was taking a nap and basically just to try it out. I have not used it since. Lawn chair is just not as good as the recliner inside and no glare to deal with. When I'm outside I'm really not interested in tv. I may bring that tv into the S&B for the guest room.
