Firestone Transforce HT
Found a Firestone dealer here in NC that is liquidating 2012 Transforce HTs for $115 each. I had them on my previous Monte and never had an issue so I think that I will pick me up five of the and replace these Marathons. Anybody ever have concerns with the Firestones?

I've run them on my truck since 2005 ... good ride and good mileage as to wear. Your fiver is light enough you'd have smooth sailing with the LT's as I do with my Michelin LT's.

If Hook says that he is happy, then I know that I will be happy. Thanks, my brother.

I would check the date of manufacture, if they are over 5 years old, I would be Leary.

I had them on my previous Monty, a 2955 and was satisfied. I second the recomendation to check manufacture date. If they are clearing inventory they may be clearing old tires.

I have personally experienced this fact. Sometimes tire people will have a huge price cut to move some "old" stock. I have bought "old" stock to run on our equipment trailers around the city. We get good service from the "China bombs" around the city but I would not put the tires over the road use. Date code is VERY important on RV's.

These LTs have been recommended in the past as suitable for a Monty and you've had them before too. Just make sure they meet the weight rating for your rig (6,000 lb axles means 3,000 lb for the tire and 7,000 lb axles means 3,500 for the tire). The tire tech is supposed to check this but you should check for yourself - hopefully you get some margin, too. I almost got some lesser rated tires on my TV when the tire tech tried to sell me something less expensive so watch the ratings, fortunately I caught it and we went for suitable tires. And do find the date code - the tire tech better know how to read this and show you or you better go find another tire store.
Do you know how to find the date code? If not, here's a link: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=11. If you still need help, please ASK!!! The MOC is very good at answering especially about this.

The date code show 37th week of 2012 so they are a year old. I asked about that when I called him. Will verify before I purchase though. Thanks for all of the comments.

I ran them on our 3400RL for 5 years and never had a problem. I replaced them because of age. When I did the tire shop was wondering why because they had plenty of thread left. We went cross country with the tires.

I'll add one more cheer for the Firestone Transforce HT
We bought our 07 3075RL from a gentleman that builds fire trucks and emergency response vehicles. He installed Firestone Transforce HTs on the trailer when he listed it. He uses Firestone Trans Force tires on his fire trucks. They are 106mph speed rated at max load. That specification puts them well ahead of ST tires.

Went and picked up new tires today. Had date code of 3812. The Marabombs on it right now are 3411 so getting a year newer tire and getting USA made LTs. Going to get them put on on Wednesday. Just another little piece of mind. Thanks for all of the positive comments. MOC family is the BEST!

Don't forget the metal valve stems. Just thinking ahead for when you get a tire monitoring system.
