Well, you can save a few pennies here:

[url="http://pilotflyingj.com/rv-home"]PFJ Frequent Fueler Advantage[url]

"Here's what you get:

Diesel $.03 off per gallon - any lane, any time
Gas $.02 off per gallon - any lane, any time
Propane $.10 off per gallon
Waste Dump ½ off"

Not a whole lot of savings, but at least they give something. Yes, you may be able to go to a station that has cheaper fuel. If so, go for it.

The biggest advantage that is for me is the "Pump Start." In the "big truck" lanes, you swipe the PFJ card and begin fueling immediately. When finished you go in and pay. I really like the "one trip" inside.

Hey! The program may not be for everyone, but for sure, it is a free program. (Free is a relative word.)

Diesel in this city was at it's lowest of $3.52 a few weeks ago. I think I saw $3.69 on the sign yesterday.

Happy trails.

The demand is very high for diesel fuel; more and more large trucks hauling and less rail movement of goods. With gasoline demand is lower as the cars are more efficient getting 25 to 50 mpg comparing to the 70s when cars averaged 12 to 19 mpg. Lots of hybrids showing up which is hard to do with the diesel engine and electricity (very expensive). Interesting how we take this all for granted until there is a shortage and then we say "what am I going to do"??
Up here Suncore a very large company is down till this weekend with a shortage of hydrogen sulfide. Any time one of these large plants go down it greatly affects the Northwest. Eventually we may be all driving vehicles with gas engines again and pulling 16 foot trailers!!! Think of it; diesel could very well be rationed!
I question you on the rail movement of goods. I know for a fact that rail is moving more goods than ever before right now. There are many reasons for this and one is rail is more cost effective on fuel than trucks. And this comes from Wall Street stats. Warren Buffett bought a lot of stock in the Burlington Northern RR for a good reason. I'm just saying there is a lot of reasons they are raising the price, but I will remain thinking that its just because there is no way to curb them in raising the price. To many in higher places have to much stock in oil to do anything about it. Without getting political on this I will just leave it at that.

Its just to bad that the working people get it once again!!

Sorry Champ_49 if I misrepresented the two transportation systems, but I was going by the removal of miles and miles of rail tracks in the northern areas. The trucking industry here in Canada is way more prosperous than rail, it is fast and direct. Product and movement JIT (just in time) is very important in this day and age. There is no rail system to one of the largest oil reserves being the tarsands; it is all trucked and piped. The shareholders in oil & gas want to see a profit and that's what oil companies do, is produce and provide profits.

Understand 8e3ko what you are talking about. I worked for the Canadian National RR as they bought the Grand Trunk in Mi. yrs ago. I know that they (meaning the RR) say there is more traffic than ever before. But you are absolutely correct, you still need trucks in a huge way. And yes the RR is involved in on time delivery also as thats just the way of business anymore. No surplus means less outlay in cash.

LOL.......we are both correct on this issue. Have a good day sir. You have given a lot of info on here that has helped me out with these RV's ....

Thanks
Dave

The expertise on this forum is beyond any other that I know of. Lots of help where someone has always encountered that challenge we all run into. I know our Monty has been enhanced from the many great ideas of members of this forum. Appreciated the discussion and would love to see all those rails active again in this area with the Conductor giving a wave as he passes and pulling 80 plus rail cars!! That's production!!

Diesel Fuel in Central NoDak is around 75 cents per gallon higher than unleaded gas. It is now at $4.23. Meanwhile, ND is pumping $40 million a day of oil out of the Bakken in western ND. http://kxnet.com/getArticle.asp?ArticleId=874384

Just paid $3.999 for it today against $3.29 for unleaded here in farm country Kansas and we have a refinery about a hundred miles away.

I really wonder why we need a pipeline to run from Canada to Louisiana/Texas when we have many refineries much closer to Canada. Rumor has it that most of that oil will be shipped to foreign countries and not even used in the US. Watch the oil ads on TV, most are saying we have enough oil/natural gas to last 100yrs but still prices are high, and then look at the record profits oil companies are making.

Record profits is the key. No wonder folks are occupying. Hard to find someone who's not robbing us these days!

here in central Florida at least around Disney world we have not had a problem with fuel prices. Both Diesel and gas have remained constant at @ 335.9/337.9 gas and 379.9/383.9 diesel.have seen gas for 329.9 yesterday. They must be shipping that fuel to Florida.

I just checked the Calgary prices where Diesel has dropped about $0.10 cents a liter or about 40 cents a gallon at some of the stations since yesterday so it looks like the aledged shortage is coming to an end.

Looks like I was wrong. I was going on what was posted at Gasbuddy.com

I just looked where todays posted prices are from a low $1.219 a liter or $4.57 a US gallon to a high of $1.350 a liter or $5.11 a US gallon.

And to further Weekenders post about lower gas prices... Gas here in Calgary is about 80 cents a US gallon cheaper than diesel... If this keeps up for much longer it's not just diesel prices that will be going up...
