It depends on your needs. If you still maintain a stick home, then you will be able to have part of your homeowners policy cover part of your contents. If you're going to be full timing then you need to get insurance that covers full timers. You should be aware that not all insurances cover full timing in an RV. It must be spelled out in the policy.

Please call your insurance agent and discuss your coverages with him/her. Not all states write the same type of policy so coverages can vary from state to state on contents coverage.

In Texas you can buy a RV policy that does not depreciate your value on your rig. You can also insure the RV on an auto policy that WILL depreciate your RV and only pay you that amount when you have an accident. Awnings aren't covered unless you add them with an endorsement. It is really important to understand your policy. People buy insurance sometimes and do not really understand their coverages. When it comes time to use it you could find yourself under insured or no coverage at all.

Another example in Texas, if you don't keep your home insured to at least 80% of the value you share in the expense of the loss. Be sure to read your policy and question.

Welcome to the MOC family.
