Happenings in Hong Kong

Well, it almost got cold here. It is 16 degrees C. People here change dress by the calendar, not the temperature. November 1, out comes the sweaters, jackets and boots regardless of the weather. Until today, I have been running around in short sleave shirts and am sooo out of fashion. They think it is cold if it gets to 71 or 72 degrees F.

No one has to worry around here about whether you can put up a Christmas tree or a Nativity scene. You find them in publically owned places. No one cares. You are free to express yourself as you wish. Sometimes I think people get offended, not because there is any great offense, rather because they are so easily offended.

Last night there was a brass band that came caroling on our street. Cars and taxis flying around everywhere. The band leader just stepped up on the curb to get out of the way. Watching it was quite comical. Folks poured out of these high rise apartments to sing with the band, greet one another and experience a sense of community not often a part of their busy lifestyle. It was sort of like you would experience in a well run RV campground during get acquainted social time. Turned out to be the Chinese Salvation Army Band. A real Christmas spirit exuded from their efforts.

We won't make it home by Christmas. We will have to be satisfied with Skype to put us in contact with family. I bought them all webcams when home on furlough in anticipation of this. This 18 months has been very rewarding, however, the Montana awaits and we are ready.

Our desire for each of you is that you enjoy, not only the Christmas season, but fellowship with the One it is all about. But if you can't for whatever reason, we wish you peace, joy, and good health. Have a very merry Christmas or whatever greeting flips your pancake.

Stiles, love hearing of your adventures in Hong Kong and how they/you are celebrating. Thanks for sharing! We wish you and Dianna a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year and hope we all remember the "reason for the season". I know it must be difficult to be away from family during this time. Smart thinking on your part and what a nice thing to do - buying webcams for loved ones.

When will you be returning back to the States?
