Duramax injectors

Took my 2002 Duramax in for recall on the tailgate and a new fuel filter. Have 50,000 miles with no trouble but mileage seemed to drop slightly. They told me I need injectors which is covered by warranty. I see where other people have had injectors replaced..did you see improvement in fuel mileage or performance?

Follow up question. Can the injectors be cleaned or do they have to be replaced?

There appears to be a problem with the early model Duramax injectors. A friend has a 2001 Duramax and his warranty was extended to 200K miles for injector only replacement. Seems like GM changed the injector design in 2003. Only know what he has passed on to me.

Our truck had all 8 injectors replaced last winter. Had 45,000 miles on it. It is a 2003. The truck acted like it had a governor hooked up on it as it wouldn't go over 48 miles per hour. I saw the bill. $1100.00. Glad it was warranty.

Got 70,296 miles on my '03 Duramax without any problems with the injectors. About every other tankful I do add a dose of PRI-D Diesel Treatment. If I am the least bit skeptical about the fuel I am purchasing I add an extra dose. Can't say if it actually works or not but I do know I haven't had any problems.

Glenn, how much is a 'dose'? I see CW sells PRI-D for 20.69, PC price. That's for 32 oz. Just looking for overall costs. I realize it's cheaper than injectors but am still wondering the cost.
Thanks.
