Allison Transmission Filter

I am going to change the spin on filter for the Allison tranny. Anything special to know? Will I have to top off the tranny fluid.

EASY TASK! It's just like changing the oil filter with one BIG exception...there is a donut shaped magnet on the top of the filter. Don't lose it. Just take it off the old one, wipe it off and plop it on the new filter.

You will only loose the ATF that is in the filter. Half pint or so. Before you reinstall the new one, fill it up (like when you do oil)and you should be good to go.

Where did you get your filter? If you bought it at the local dealership (Chev/GMC)it is WAY over priced. You can get them thru you local Allison shop for about 8-10 bucks vice the 26+ at the dealer.
