Dometic thermostat

Thought I would pose a question that has been going on since we owned the Montana.
We have a Dometic thermostat with a remote control also a thermometor that we have set in the camper to see what the inside temperature is. We have moved this around to different areas.
In order to get the heater to come on we have to raise the Dometic 10 to 12 degree above what the thermometer say.
So if the inside thermometer reads 65 we have to turn the Dometic heater up to 75 - 78 degree before the heater comes on.
Is this normal??

I don't know if this is normal, but we have a 5-8 degree differential from where we set the thermostat and our separate thermometer reading. perhaps they're not calibrated......

Be interested to hear from others.

The infamous Remote Control Thermostat installed in the 2005 -2006 model Montanas was a great idea gone wrong. They were notorious for their erratic set points (+/- 10 degrees was common) and their propensity to turn on the heater and the A/C at the same time.

The solution is to replace the Remote Thermostat with the Climate Control Center (CCC) thermostat. Montana and Dometic usually did this for no charge back in the day. I suspect you will have to buy it yourself today for about $200. The change over isn't too difficult.

carl is correct. it was a nightmare. the easiest thing to do is to call dometic with the model and serial number tag that is located just inside of where the air conditioner filter is located. They will get you the replacement parts to change over to a wall unit.easy change about 1/2 hour. If you have any questions on it while installing, they are also very good at walking you thru it. I don't know what the cost is,but it will be worth it.
