Surburban Heater

It finally got cold enough to have the heat kick in one night this weekend. Don't laugh, yes we are talking Florida. None the less, the furnace kicked on but really seems anemic. The blower sounded like a tornado was ripping through the place, but the force coming out of the heat ducts was almost like it was gravity feed rather than by a blower. My older travel trailer would move the curtains when the heat kicked in. It just does not seem strong enough.

Any of you have a similar experience with the heat. 35000 BTU Suburban.

Yes,ours is noisy too. none of the vents push hard. You have to figure that all it is, is a 12v fan,just listen to your bathroom vent..

You might have the slide open on the AC unit itself. With it open it sounds like a tornado and closed it pushes air thru the ducts. I would check that first.

It's a squirrel cage blower, much more robust than a 12 volt bathroom fan. Also, on the slide open for AC, we are talking Heater not AC. This is like an open or broken pendulum or possibly a joint that was not properly duct taped.

Nosticks, It is a squirrel cage blower but still runs on 12 volts. They are noisy and don't move the air through the vents like a home heating system. In our 3000rk we have three vents out of the same flat duct on the main level. There is a piece of sheetmetal placed in that duct a few feet before the first floor vent. You can sometimes see it with a mirror and a flashlight shoved down in the duct after removing the register. It was explained to me that that sheetmetal strip serves as a diverter so all the forced air out of the furnace doesn't come out the first register leaving the other two anemic for heat. After running for a few minutes all registers are warm and I guess that is what we are looking for. The register in the bathroom has it's own round duct off the furnace and does move more air. By removing the access panel seperating the cargo compartment from the basement you will have a good view of that duct. They have been known to become detached. Duct tape makes for an easy fix.
