3400 wood color
We have been looking at the Montana 3400's. Sallie has fallen in love with the floor plan but neither of us like the dark wood. Did the 3400 ever come in honey oak or something similar. The dark color just makes it feel like a cave. A one or two year old model would not be a problem if we can get what we want. thanks .

The 2009 models (10th anniversary edition) came with oak interior. I'm not sure how long before that the oak was being used. I agree with you that the darker wood makes the trailer feel a bit cavelike.

Our 2007 3400 came with the Honey Oak, I likewise am not too fond of the darker woods.

Actually the 07 3400 came in 2 wood colors, honey and a shade darker, I match it with ipswich pine stain. I like the dark color and we are getting tired of the light oak, but not enough to pay for a change to a different unit.

Our 09 3400RL is one of the last ones built as a 10th anniversary before the Hickory models came out. Ours is the lighter oak color (Honey oak) which we feel is a nice color of wood for an RV.
Darker woods tend to make space or rooms smaller and that's something one does not need when spending many days or months in the rig.

Thanks for the information. We will do some shopping when we get home. I am very happy with our 03 mountaineer but Sallie wants more room.

Our 2006 3400 has the lighter wood. We were at the spring rally in Kerrville and got to view a new 3400. The wood on it was darker than our honey oak, but lighter than the hickory. I prefer lighter colors but this was pretty. Sorry I don't know the name of the color.
Happy hunting.
