Orv, it is a new one. The price increases if you want the fancy "super" rail kit that removes the rails when not in use. It also involves mounting it yourself. The only drilling required is to make 2 existing hole in the frame slightly larger and drilling 4 holes in the bed. Before you say you're not a mech-a-nic look at the installation instructions on-line. They are straight forward and easy to understand and there is a drilling template.

On edit;
I can't get my buddy on the phone right now but we found the hitch on sale at one dealer and the rail kit at a real low price on another site. I printed out the info but he took it home last night. The price we came up with was around $1,500.00 to $1,700.00. As soon as he calls me back I'll post the sites and prices.

Orv, OK, still waiting for call back from friend, but found this site. 16K SuperGlide Kit - Universal Rail Kit, hitch and rails $1,620.46. I still think we did better last night, low price and free shipping just have to find the right two sites.

Thanks Dennis, but I'm not looking for a hitch. I was just passing on the info from my experience with my Trailer Saver hitch.

Dave, You may not have rceived my message on a pull Rite Super Glide 24K Fifth Wheel Hitch for shortbed pick up on E-BAY.Add sez it is used, but it is in excellent shape. Contains all the parts includeing the plate for the 5vr. You would need to purchase the mounting kit for your truck. Dave,
The super rail system has 4 posts that come out of your truck, leaving you a totally flat bed. The universal kit (i have) is mounted to the frame with bolts and the rails do not come out.

On edit,
Both rail systems are bolted to the frame of the truck, the super rails use different brackets to mount to the frame. These special brackets allow the 4 posts to be taken out of your truck. If you do not plan on using your bed for hauling gravel, drywall, plywood and so on, I really do not see the benefit of the super rail system for you. I say save your money, the universal rails will do just fine. They are in my truck bed all year, really do not cause me to much trouble when I haul something.
