I use what Cummins recommends. With a 14,000 mile oil change interval and the most durable motor on the market, that oil must be just fine.

Motorcraft semi-synthetic.
Free oil changes for ten years from the dealer I purchased the truck.

Shell Rotella T6 The cheapest I've found is Rural King. 2.5 gallon container. Sometimes you can catch a 10% off store sale.

Truckin Oil

I have always used Rotella T6 5w-40. I change my own oil or buy the oil and have the oil shop do it if I'm in a pinch.

Shell Rotella T6 for my 2020 F-350 6.7 diesel changed every 5K miles. I always use Ford's OEM oil filter. I Installed a Fumoto valve PN F106N on the first oil change. Takes the mess out of the initial surge of oil once the drain plug is removed. Dang oil can shoot 18" horizontally when the plug is removed without the Fumoto valve. I also use a screw driver to puncture the bottom of the oil filter then wait a few minutes to let it drain, before trying to unscrew it. Hint, don't try to change the oil on a windy day. When my truck was new, I wanted to install the Fumoto valve before draining the oil so as not to have the massive stream of oil gushing out. The dilemma was how to accomplish it. I connected a portable vacuum cleaner to the fill port on the valve cover, taped the hose in place and turned it on. The suction created on the interior of the engine, prevented the oil from exiting once the drain plug was removed. The Fumoto valve was installed without a loss of oil. DYI oil change allows for a thorough inspection of undercarriage for problems.

Rotella T6 when I find it cheap at Sam's Wholesale $62/12qt. Often use Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme SAE 5W-40 Full Synthetic Diesel Engine Oil - good price @ AMZN $55/12qt. Always send sample to Blackstone Labs for analysis.

Amsoil Signature Series 5W-40

I've been using Amsoil 5W-40 full synthetic with Amsoil oil filter since my truck was new and it runs better now at 150,000 miles than when it was new. In the past two years or so, Amsoil Signature Series is the only oil certified for use in 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks that allows you to skip an oil change. I routinely reset my oil change warning when it goes off the first time and then change oil and filter at the next. Depending on how much I have been towing, I'm getting 11,000-15,000 miles between DIY oil changes which makes the $150 price well worth it. I didn't believe the longer oil change period at first, but several oil analyses have confirmed Amsoil's longer life promise.

motor oil

In a way, I'm kind of surprised nobody has mentioned using Chevron Delo 400, 15-40. I've been using it for many years. Made a believer out of me when I had a 1984 Toyota turbo diesel pickup. Had to take the head off (timing belt failure) and when the shop was checking the bearings (70,000 plus miles) they asked when I had replaced them. I said "never" and they said what oil am I using. I told them and they said keep using it, it's doing a great job, the bearings were like new. I have also used Mobil Delvac 15-40 when the dealer was changing it when the GMC I have was new.

Ford filters and Rotella T6 5W-40 every 5,000 miles.

Subscribed to PowerStroke Tech Talk w/ARod

He's a diesel tech at a Detroit Ford dealership. Lots of really good information.
