Registered a Domain name today!

I am in the process of trying to start an RV Products site. I am not there yet, but I'm working towards my goal. I have some ideas that I have used in my RV and hope to find more. I hoping to sell my hitch covers on my site and add things as I have them. I have a meeting setup with a marketing specialist next Sat to help me with ideas on manufacturer.

I am hopeful this is going to get off the ground. It's been in my head and now I am ready to make it a reality. I really want to find a way to work from Miss Montana and lose the day job, at least part time, and stay focused in the RV living lifestyle.

I am going for products that add to the RV experience in terms of space saving ideas and products, nifty gadgets that work, decor, et..Things that make life in our Rv's easier. I will post a prototype of my hitch cover when I have it made. (if that's allowed here) It's worked for me and I would not be without it.

My domain name will be rvlivingproducts.com. I have never designed a website so this is totally new ground and I hope, an excellent adventure. I have heard from the Nay-sayers who tell me I don't have enough capital or for what ever reason it won't work....but I think this just might work. I believe it will.

Any comments greatly appreciated.

I can only say I wish you the best of luck with your new business. I hope it works out for you and allows you to drop that day job. From the folks who I know that own their own business it is the most rewarding thing they say they could have done. They also say be prepared to be married to the job for the first few years until you get established. Again, Best of luck!

I love "Nay-sayers"... they're all broke! Good luck, and ALWAYS follow your dream with a laser-like focus and you will force things to happen that others won't believe you were able to do. You'll be the only one that is not surprised.

Faith & Action - the two most powerful forces that we have been blessed with by the Creator.

*On Edit~ Oh yeah... and have a good plan and wise counsel from someone who has "been there" (a mentor).

Good Luck! It's tought getting a business started...I've been running my business for 3 years and it's just now getting to the point where I am able to even consider leaving my regular job. As my business is growing, it's taking up more time and I'm running out of hours in the week.

Make sure you have a good business plan and check yourself against it every few months. One thing I noticed after a year is that I got way off track following tangents and I believe it reduced my effectiveness. It's tough to look at other ideas without following them a bit, but if those ideas take your eyes off the goal, it'll slow you down.

Oh, and don't expect all your business to come from a website initially. There are so many web sites out there now, it's hard to rise above the crowd. In your plan, expect to spend some money on print advertising. Also, use services like PRWeb.com to get press releases sent out to a larger audience.

PM me off-list if you want some other links and advice on internet marketing.

Good luck with the web venture. There are a number of very succesful web enterprises and, regrettably, a very large number of failures. The good news is that you do not need to invest a lot of $$$$$$ in capital but you do need to invest a lot of time. There are some traps to avoid (many) but there are an incredible number of (free) resources you can tap into. Start small and learn as you go - be prepared to completely rewrite the website several times before it meets expectations = even then you should continuously update.

We have had some success in the past with websites for our businesses (these days we use it as an adjunct only for existing clients - not over enthusiasic at our maturing age about adding lots of new clients) - important lessons include making sure your clients can easily find out who you are ("about us" section) and how you protect their personal information ("privacy section").

I could go on and on but last pieces of advice (for now) is don't try and reinvent the wheel - you need to be different from the competition but that can come in small ways - you MUST register with all the search engines - find out all you can about meta-tags and their uses.

Good luck - we will be watching your progress.

Thanks for the good advice and suggestions. I have a lot to learn and I do know from searching sites myself that some sites are well designed and user friendly and easy to find and some not so. I have been doing a ton of reading and there are some forums out there who discuss the issues.

I am meeting tomorrow morning with a local woman who has a mentoring spirit who went so far as to get her little idea on QVC and took off. She also has a web site.

New ideas and the entrepreneur spirit are some of the things that makes this country Great. Go with your dreams and don't let anyone convince you otherwise. Be sure to have plenty of "Gadgets" on your site. We just LUUUUUV gadgets.
