How to drain 2nd gray tank?
We have a 2010 3150rl. We have drained the tanks, but the second gray water tank still shows full. Do the gray not run together or is there a separate drain?

My pull handle is in front of the street side wheels. On some models it is between the wheels.

Thank you. We found it. The manuals tell you nothing. Thanks again.

Don't feel bad, that second Gray has got a lot of folks on here with their first Monty.

Well - my Gray and Black tank labels were reversed ... so much for rinsing the hose clear. Now I need to seal the lower shower door track - it leaks water that stands between the shower and sink - good way to rot something out.

This topic comes up quite a bit here on the Forum. There are two gray tanks and they DO NOT run together and there is a separate handle to drain each tank. I don't remember if your unit has a convenient center but if it does the black tank and one of the gray tank (the shower and bathroom sink) are in there. The second handle for the kitchen sink is on the drivers side about half way or just in front of the front axle. The rod comes out through the frame and normally has a gray handle on it. IF you don't find it there, check to see if there is a handle between the wheels on the drivers side that comes out of the frame also. Those two places are normally where the pull handles are for the second gray tank (galley or kitchen sink). Check these two places and I think you will find the handle. Let us know what you come up with.

Wish I would have gotten on here sooner. We bought our '10 Montana in Nov. from a car dealer who took it in on trade. We knew nothing of a 2nd gray tank, now it cost us a pretty penny and a new tank! We feel quite stupid! ☹️

Our shower drain on our first Montana, a 2880 was hidden between the wheels and was never mentioned during the PDI. After having in back up on our first trip, we took it back to dealer thinking there was a problem and were totally embarrassed when we were told of the other handle between the tires. I swore up and down we only had 2 tanks and there was a problem with one of them.

On some models, the galley tank drain handle is behind the road side wheels, as on our rig.

I also did not know what the other gray handle is for. Just set up 5th in FL and stayed a week before packing up till winter, including the two main tanks several times. How much trouble am I going to find when December rolls around? Should I have someone at the campground check it?

Louie,
Welcome to the forum!
You should not have an issue. It is best to leave a little water in the tanks to keep the seals wet. Nice to dump before hitting the road where the bumps put some stress on the tanks.

Just picked up my 2018 310RE this week and never was shown gray water second handle.
Glad I stumbled on this thread. Thank you all.

I painted the handle for the galley tank white so it is easier to see. Then I made a reach rod to operate the valve so I don’t have to crawl under the kitchen slide to get to it.

My tanks were also reversed. Grey was black and black was grey. Still do not understand where grey tank 2 is. Also, what is the Valterra handle for?

You will get better answers if you identify the make, model, and year of your rig.
The second grey tank is usually above the axles.
Is the Valtera Valve handle sticking out of the driver's side frame, in the general area of the wheels? If yes, that is the drain valve for the second grey tank.

Yes, that is where it is. I wasn’t sure bc I had read something about a valterra lever that confused me. This camper had the grey and black tanks labeled wrong, and I really think the 2nd bathroom plumbing is not right. It seems to have a lot of problems as far as getting clogged up. Looks to me like there is angle in the pipe that goes off from the main one, so there is not really any gravity to help take waste out. I love this camper, but it sure came with it’s fair share of problems.

With all the slides out you have to a contortionist to get to the second gray tank handle on my 384BR. I decided to leave it open the whole time I am in a long term site and do the black and other gray as needed.
