finding water on the road
When just taking off for a couple of days and planning on doing the Walmart, casino, etc. thing, what are some ideas for places to fill the fresh water tank so you don't have to carry a full tank all the way from home?
Thanks!
Greg

Fresh tank does a grand job. Many service plazas and Rest Areas now have water and elect. Just be sure to use a good filtering system, you should be OK. "Next Exit Guide" is a good friend to take along. Larry

Most Flying J's have both fresh water and dump stations. Agree with Larry, a good filtration system is necessary.

Thanks Larry, actually have a copy of Next Exit coming from Amazon as we speak! It sounds like a very useful resource.

Thats good to know that some of the truck centers have water. We only have 4 or 5 Flying J's total in Oreon and Washington, but maybe some of the other centers have it available. Thanks!

I have a variety of apps on my phone and Ipad to help with those issues: All Stays Rest Areas, Pilot/Flying J finder, Truck Stop, Road Ahead and All Stays RV Dumps. You'll also find a variety of Park finder apps including one that actually has a leveling function on it that we use to level the Monty.

Thanks Dick. Leveling function - how the heck do they do that??
I need to get a little more tech savvy. I only have an emergency cell phone without internet, camera, etc... just a phone. Have been thinking about getting one that I could search for things like this and use the apps. I did finally get a GPS so we can have it for using to RV, just need to figure out how to download the different points of interest to add the truck centers, etc. although it looks like it has a lot already pre-loaded.
Thanks,
Greg

The app is RV Companion. It has a number of functions, one of which is leveling. It works on my IPhone and also on my IPad. I usually us the iPod because it's bigger, but it really doesn't matter. First you find a perfectly level surface lay the phone on the surface and push the calibrate button. Once it's calibrated it remembers so you only have to do it once. When we get where we are going I just open the Monty's door and lay the phone on the floor. The app displays two levels. Side to side is first and if it isn't level the app shows me the bubble and also tells me how many inches to raise the offending side. Once it's level side to side and set, I unhitch and then with the door open I lower the landing gear, using the remote, until the bubble is in the middle front to back. I'm sure there must by an android version also.
