Birmingham, Alabama

Please reccomend a campground in the Birmingham area for overnighting or a Walmart or a Flying J.

Tannehill State Park west of B'ham is a nice campground. I think there is a Flying J north of town.

Just to second the recommendation of jrgwdenner in regard to Tannehill State Park. Especially if you are headed East/West on I-20 on the bypass to the South of Birmingham. We have stayed there a couple of time and enjoyed it.

Thanks for the wonderful information. We will be in Birmingham on July 14 and July 15. We are counting on Dennis the Hurricane being long gone.

Dennis shouldn't be a problem for you. You might get some rain, but even with the previous BIG hurricanes, B'ham is far enough north that they get very little damage. We live near Montgomery, farther south by 100 miles, and have only spotty damage when they come through.
