Potential Fire Hazard - RV Refrigerator

Hello All, just wanted to give a heads up about a potential fire hazard. We have a Norcold 2118, four door, electric/propane refrigerator on our 2017 Montana 3950BR. Inspecting today I found a burned wiring diagram in the refrigerator equipment compartment behind the lower vent. Apparently the paperwork was affixed in a plastic holder right behind the exhaust vent stack. At some point the plastic had melted, and the paperwork fell out and down directly to the base of the vent (where it's hottest) and caught fire. Scary stuff. I wonder how many of the refrigerator fires might be caused by this? Please check your fridge and relocate the paperwork.

Should send those pictures to Norcold. They need to make sure those are positioned elsewhere.

Guaranteed the lawyers were behind the " no response ". The liability for fires, property damage, of lost lives would be real potential if they admitted to this being there doing. I wonder if this could be the cause of some of the refrigerator fires you hear about from time to time and not the leaking coolant.
Called my son and he said his papers were near the hot tube but not behind it, his response was the sticky that hold the plastic bag to the back of the refridg. from weathering will eventually fail and the plastic bag and papers could fall against the tube at the hottest end, he took his papers out altogether, maybe everyone should do this.

Had a fire that started behind our ax/gas fridge. $13000 worth of damages. Replaced the refrigerator with a residential. Will never use a gas fridge again.

Thanks for the info.. I have the 4 door Norcold 1210 in my 2012 3750 . I only camp a few times a years and it's still working good. When and if it does go I will replace the cooling unit with an up graded helium charged gas/ electric unit.

I mounted a RV Fridge fire extinguisher behind the fridge and installed a ARP Fridge Defender https://www.arprv.com/

This keeps the fridge cooler and cuts off the boiler before the temps get hot.

We decided against the combo fridges just because of those fire concerns. For those of you that have the combo type you might consider the 'Proteng' automatic fire suppression system. Somewhat pricey but super cool at putting out fires automatically.

I also installed an automatic fire extinguisher behind my fridge. They also have them for engine compartments.
