Harvest Host

I got an email to try Harvest Host, which is an app that provides a map of a network of wineries, breweries, and museums that allow you to camp one night at their place for free. You join for a $79 fee and in return get access to The app with these host locations and contact info. We are planning a trip from Colorado to Maryland and were thinking about giving it a try. It seems more interesting than staying at WalMarts or KOAs along the way. Has anyone used this service? Just seeing if it was worth it.

I used them for a while but never was able to find a spot where I was going to be. There is also a new app called HIPCAMP. Similar to harvest hosts but is more organized in the app in my opinion. Also have more places to go.

We just signed up for HH after a friend recommended it and i was considering it. We've stayed four nights on our 6 week trip so figured it's paid for itself already. Found it works well for a quick stop between longer stays.

I was a member last year and stayed at a couple of wineries when we went our west. Most places will not have electrical hookups so keep that in mind.

Thank you for the feedback

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Sounds like a good alternative to WalMart and KOA for a quick overnight stop. I also checked out Campendium.com. It looks like another great resource for finding a place to stop along the way.
Cheers,
Michael

We recently drove thru Pa and stayed at Wadel Farm. We had our 2 grandsons (5 and 12) so a winery was out of the question. Lamar (the owner and his family were so nice and accommodating. They even were able to give us electric (110) for our fridge. We purchased fresh milk for the trip and fresh OMG ice cream. It was fun seeing the kids interact with the animals and how excited they were. All in All I would say Harvest Hosts was a good investment. We had other places reserved but due to an emergency at home we had to cancel.
