Object in Hydraulic Reservoir
Given the title, you guys already know this isn’t going to end well. I have had a popping noise from my Lippert leveling system for some time now. I finally got around to adding the additive that is often recommended to solve this. In the midst of removing 1 quart of fluid so that I could replace it with 1 quart of the additive, the turkey baster I was using came apart leaving the hard plastic tube in the reservoir. It’s about 6” long and perhaps 3/4” dia at the larger end. I could see no way to get it out so just added the additive and closed things up.
My guess is (I really don’t know) that there are not any moving parts in the reservoir so it’s not like to jam anything up.
What do you guys think - how much trouble am I in???

No trouble. I should just lay where it is. It’s like the gas can top in my lawn mower gas tank. I say camp on. If it should give trouble then worry about.

You could suck out the fluid with another turkey baster then use a wet dry vac if needed to retrieve the tube but i agree with mlh in that it will probably be just fine right where it's at. If you decide to retrieve the tube then you may want to wait till you need to change out the fluid which may be a while.

It’s not going to hurt a thing but with a flexible set of mechanical fingers it could be retrieved with some patience

Everybody knows that cheap plastic basters are completely non-pervious to the blend of chemicals in that tank... Bunches of people have turkey basters floating around in their hydraulic tanks.

Our old rig had a potato pealer in the black tank for about 7 years until we traded it. Seemed to work out alright.

Not sure if this would work in your situation, but how about using a flexible automotive retrieving tool - I have one of these and have found it invaluable.

Well coyoterick beat me to it by about 20 minutes or so. I carry one of those retrievers in the Monte all the time. It has proven to be a very valuable tool numerous times while on the road not just with the Monte but the tow vehicle too. Just push down on the button and it has four little fingers that come out to pick up nearly anything except heavy objects. You can even pull rings out of drains with it-- don't ask any questions there! LOL All you would have to do is do a little fishing with it down in the tank and grab the wide end with the pinchers and lift it out. Might even be able to grab the small end too. Just think, you'll lubricate the retriever while doing it too!
DQ-- I'm not going to even ask about how a potato peeler got into your black tank!

Just do it when all Legs are down and all slides out, will lower the level in the tank.
