Question 3455SA cabinet removal

Our 2011 3455SA has the L-shaped kitchen counter with a double cabinet above. The cabinet is mounted both to the side wall and to the ceiling. Although it's always nice having additional storage, wife agrees that taking it down would really open up the floorplan and interior sight lines. After removing the cabinet, we would leave the wood structure running vertically up the wall from the countertop. Hopefully the wood trim piece between the top of the cabinet and the ceiling could be removed as well. Not sure about the ceiling trim piece especially if it is screwed DOWN from the ceiling instead of up from the cabinets. Has anyone done this? Is it just a matter of removing screws inside the cabinet? Thanks!

We've removed a cabinet, but not the same as yours. We found that the screws in ours were accessible from inside the cabinet. Personally, I'd carefully start taking it down. Worst case scenario, you have to stop and re-secure it.

We have the same year and model. We use that cabinet a lot. Never thought of removing it. But I can see you point. Will probably leave some unfinished looking areas.
