EISENHOWER MEM TUNNEL
I got this information on the Eisenhower Memorial Tunnel and thought I would pass it on to anybody interrested, I called them and asked if there were any restrictions for fifth wheel trailers and the heigth requirements are 13 feet 11 inches, and you dont have to turn off the propane on the frig either.
they have two clips one west bound and one east bound through the tunnel it is a very long tunnel 1.6 miles long amaising engineering feat through the mountain.

we just came thru the eisenhower tunnel in june this year headed outsdie silverthorne colorado. no problems goint thru the tunnel with the monty,it is a good pull out of Denver to the tunnel you will have a couple of 6% grades going up to the tunnell. now once thru the tunnell you have a 6% grade downhill for 4 miles, yes 4 miles. we just took of the overdrive and held her at 40 mph. made it just fine. the tranny started to rise in temp a little both ways coming up and when leaving but we just pulled over for a couple of minutes and it cooled down and went on our way. yes it is amazing to go thru. i think i measures out at 12' 7''

I just drove the 3400RL through it a couple hours ago on my way to Glenwood Springs! Am all setup at Ami's Acres campground now for 8 nights....

Check before trying to go through there in the winter. I attempted it a few years ago and I 70 was closed due to an avalanche.

Don, we've been through it a couple of times and had no problems at all. Didn't even have to pay special attention, just stay in my lane. The hardest part of that tunnel is getting up the long grades leading up to it and even those are not that difficult. We did it with diesel and with a Ford gas V10 towing our 2003 3295RK. I-70 across Colorado is probably the pretties of any stretch of interstate we've ever been on. I still prefer US highways but I-70 through Colorado is a good choice for scenery.

Thanks Seave we are looking forward to seeing all that in September after Labor Day. we are looking at Ami's RV Park that seems like it is in the center of the state and in a cool area I dint want to be east of the contenetal devide it hot over there.

I may be mistaken but we stayed at AMI's in Glennwood springs. It was kinda tight in some areas we had thought of staying at AMI's last but we were a little to large for their RV park. We do like Glennwood Springs...
We have been thru the Eisenhower Tunnel several times and had no issue. The western side is a long strech and one needs to be careful. The last time we were towing the Chevy HHR behind the 5th wheel but we had the Freightliner then and with the Pac Brake we never had any issues. At the bottom of the hill we were still at 60 mph. I agree there is a amazing view accross I-70 thru Colorado. Another awesome ride is the road from Casper, Wyoming to Cody, Wyoming.... We stayed in New Castle Colorado the RV park is small but we were in there and when not hooked to the Chevy HHR we were 57' long and I stayed hooked-up..... Happy Trails...

Don, I have pulled through it numerous times and have no problems. We live in Colorado Springs and go west quite often.
