Water Pump Replacment
Hey guys, looking to replace the OEM water pump with one of the new quiet, non-pulsing type pumps. If anyone has done this type of replacement, please advise if I need to empty the water holding tank before I start. I am thinking that since the pump is inside and above the holding tank, I may not need to empty. However, I know things may not always be as they seem. Thanks for your advice.

You will not need to drain the freshwater tank. It will help to relieve the pressure in the lines by turning on the faucets then close them. You may get a little water draining from the lines when you unhook the pump. But a towel can handle that with ease.

I replaced mine with the same kind & it hooked right up without a problem. Remember the tank is below (lower) the floor, so the water won't flow up hill. A towel will soak up any leak.

Sure Flo mades one called Smart Sensor. I have had 3 of them as they said that they have had electral issues with then. I now have one called Revelotion. Have only used it after installing it but looks and sounds better then the high priced Smart Sensor. Lot ceaper also. Got mine from PPL. Was on sale and same price as stock one.

Have been thru the project.... Suggest you go with the Large Recolution the 4GPM unit... If you go with a smart pump, make sure to put a check.valve at the output of the pump... they will leak and cause you probs if you dont....
You may also wish to consider "isolating" the pump with ateast 18" of soft hose on both sides of the pump, the in and the out...
Best wishes... I have spent a lot of time correcting most of the water sys probs... noise... vibration... pulsing etc...

When we replaced ours we also bought some of the 3/4 inch thick floor mat and set the pump on that to reduce the noise from the pump being bolted to a large piece of plywood flood which acted like a drum head and transmitted the noise to everything in the basement. It comes in packages of 4 2x2 ft sheets, I cut a piece for the pump then took two of them and placed them on the floor behind the counter. They protect the floor and are easy on the feet. We pick them up and place them on the couch when moving. We tried the soft hoses and that only helped a little, the biggest reduction in noise came with the floor isolation...
