Bearing Service

Hello and thanks for the add to this group ,We need some information
Just bought a new to us 2019 Montana 331rl. we can not find out what bearings we have or if we need to grease them. We have the general booklet with the other paperwork,,,but,, so generic
I wondered if there was a site to get MY specs for this 5er using our VIN number? Thanks

Mary,

Welcome to the forum!

Your bearings should be serviced once a year. The bearings might go a little longer if you don't put a lot of miles on the rig but it's really important to look at the brakes regularly which is part of the wheel bearing repack. A few will advocate using the grease fitting in the center of the axle to lube the bearings but that gives you no idea of what is going on with the brakes.

Someone with your model may chime in with the numbers for your bearings.

As Zack said, grease bearings like on a car. One other caution about using the zerk for greasing is it’s easy to blow the seal and wreck your brakes. For details, you should be able to find your info on the Dexter site. If you have all the documentation, there should be a Dexter booklet.

Go under your rig and look on your axles for a white tag. If it's there it will identify what axles you have. If it's worn off check to see if it is stamped with a part number.
Mine are Dexter 7,000lb axles. 2019 3130re.
Here is a link to Dexter 600 to 8K lb axle manual.
It has all the specs you need.

If you have Road Armor suspension by Lippert, you can download the Lippert NOW app from Google play store. It has the manuals for all Lippert products.

You can find good videos on YouTube for "how to" do most everything.
