Goliad State Park, Texas

Im a 5th generation native Texan and very proud of it. In our travels to the Texas Riviera aka Port Aransas, we have passed thru Goliad many times. We decided to spend a few days at the historical state park to soak up some of the very rich history there and the surrounding area and to enjoy the San Antonio River that runs through the park.

You cant enjoy the river via the park because the access is now pretty much blocked off by the park barriers so scratch that. The park website did not have a single space for us the 5 nights we wanted to stay so we had to stay in one spot 2 nights then move across the driveway for the next 3 nights. A female park ranger who conducts herself like Barney Fife continually read us the rules chapter and verse every pass she made going out of her way to find petty faults and made it clear SHE was the supervisor. She did the same to many others and several cut their stays short and left due to her rude demeanor. Thanks to her alone, we will never be back to this park. We have been to many other state parks and none have had a person like her on staff. Other park personnel were incredibly gracious and were a joy to interact with.

As a native Texas son, I wish everyone to enjoy this rich and valuable historical resource which has been meticulously restored and maintained. Its a shame a bad attitude and junior G-man badge takes so much from the experience.
