I have a 2005 Chevy with short bed, 6 foot. I use a superglide hitch with no problems.

I have a 2004 f250 cc short bed 4x4 v-10 and tow our 3000RK without any clearance problems. Actually no problems at all in over 30000 miles of towing. I only state our individual case with no recommendations.

Towed with an 2006 F250 FX4 shortbed for years before I upgraded to the 2012 F350 FX4 shortbed. Never had clearance issues.

We have a 2006 Ford F350 dually short bed and have not had any problems with the Andersen Ultimate fifth wheel hitch hooked to a 2015 Montana High Country 305RL. The Ford super duty short bed is actually 6' 9" which is the longest bed of the short beds.
