CLEANING SLIDEOUT TOPPERS & ROOF

Okay folks, here's my problem. I park my Monty at Woodhaven Lakes in Sublett Ill for the summer, normally May through September. After that we're Arizona bound for the winter.

My problem is the site we're at in Woodhaven has numerous trees on our property. This is a good thing for providing shade but is bad because of all the droppings that occur from these trees. Combine that with all of the dirt & crap flying in the air & sticking onto these droppings results in very dirt blackened topper & roof.

I'm sure they make a roof cleaning solvent that won't hurt the roofing material. but what does one use to clean these toppers ? In addition, our long slideout topper sags & water & grit just sits there staining the fabric.

I'm afraid to use ammonia because it may hurt the fabric. And I'm also concerned with using anything that would hurt the decals. Anything else I can use on the toppers that others have used with success ?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I use the same cleaner/wax on my awnings and slideouts toppers that I do on the side of the rig. If I need to treat an area I use a awning cleaner in a spray bottle from these folks: http://www.amazon.com/Thetford%C2%AE...CTGKKZQPFQYWEA

For the toppers, I use any brand of mold and mildew cleaner followed by a good hosing off with water. I use one of those Swiffer mops to swab the underside as well as the top of them ... works great. For the roof itself ... dawn dish soap in a bucket of water or any brand of rubber roof cleaner.

Some People here will disagree but I have always used a pressure washer on my roof and awnings BUT here is the key I use a ELECTRIC 1700 P.S.I. power washer from Home Depot for about 100 bucks and it works AWESOME without damage DO NOT use a Gas 2000+ P.S.I. Washer it is to powerfull ,I have been using this for 7 years and it makes my roof and awnings all clean again in little time ...just my experience in 7 years of doing it

Just got done washing the roof and slide out toppers on our Mountaineer yesterday. Used a generous amount of Dawn blue original in 3 gallons of water. Made the roof and toppers sparkle after cleaning off the "tree mud"! Then, used a Thetford wash and wax product on the sides. Shines like a baby's behind, now.

For extended stays at parks I never take a site under trees. Just like I don't like parking my truck or car 24/7 under any trees. Everything from tree sap to bird doo doo collects on your finish, none of which is good for it.

I don't get excited about how clean and white my roof is. About twice a year I wash it off with Dawn/water. It is stained badly from air conditioner run off and other things but who cares, it is a roof. I just need it clean enough so I can inspect everything to see if it is time to reseal a spot or two.

I Don't think anything removes air conditioner stains,I have tried everything so I gave up on that and JandC you might care about having a nice white roof if you lived in the NW unless you do not care about heavy mildew all over the side and the top of the roof Not a good look on a nice RV

For stains on awnings and toppers I use Mr Clean Magic Erasers. Works really well.

That's a good idea. I'll have to try that.

Another good idea! I don't do well with ladders now.
