Clothes fall off Rod
Hello all, we have a 2018 Montana 3120 RL and pull it with a 2017 F-350 4x4. Every time we pull it, some or all of our clothes bounce off the clothes rod. I had to replace the rod shortly after we bought the camper because it bent. I replaced it with a solid wood rod. Clothes fell off. I then replaced it with a metal pipe and they still are still falling off. We are not full timing yet and don’t carry many clothes. I have tried using every kind of hangers I can purchase. Has anyone had this problem? I would appreciate any suggestions? Thanks
Donald

We replaced our cloths rod with a conduit pipe as we noticed it was sagging, no problem other than we had to replace the plastic rod holders.

Thanks, I did replace the rod holder but did not use a conduit rod. I’ll try that.

Thanks DQDick. I just orders the hangers. We can’t wait to try them.

We found that by simply hanging clothes backwards on the rod, ie the front of the hook facing us, made a huge difference.

It must bounce really bad back there.Do you balance your RV tires.. We have had the rod break that is almost a sure thing but never clothing falling off the rod.
It is a interesting experiment if you can do it ride in the Rv while on the road for a few miles. You may be surprised at the experience.

I just wrapped some of that rubber shelf liner on the rod and everything stays in place. Very cheap fix!

We have a 3100 (same model) and have NEVER had clothes fall off the rod, only difference I am aware of is the 18 has a different suspension and pin box. You may not have enough pin weight causing excessive bounce, also carrying water in the rear fresh water tank will create more bounce.

My shirts and jackets come off the hangers if I don’t fasten the top button.

I always balance the tires and try to put most of the weight on the hitch pin. Also check and see if the trailer is setting level when on the truck. Try the fome pipe insulation over the rod

Simply place the hangers on the rod backwards. For some reason, they never fall off.

I bought the hangers from Camping World designed for RV's and have never had anything fall off the clothes rod since using them over the past 6 years.

2018 HM345RL. First trip out on our cross country trip the entire clothes pole and shelf collapsed. Noticed that the whole thing was stapled to the paneling. This brand new unit has been nothing but problems since we bought it.

We bought a three inch noodle and cut it to fit space over the rod. Once pushed into place, no more hangers bouncing off. Try it, you’ll like it.

Our inexpensive solution to the closet issue
We had the same problem. Every time we arrived at our destination, all our clothes were laying on the closet bottom. Frustrated, we made a trip to Walmart and purchased the parts you see in the attached photos. We removed the rod, attached the brackets, attached the strap to the brackets with zip ties and we gave not had a problem since. FYI, there is a zip tie in the middle of the rod securing the strap as well.

Must be a lot of bounce back there. We did not have that problem however the entire rod collapsed early on and we replaced it with a sturdy rod. We do not hang our clothing backward now and have no problem. We do have the Mor Ryde IS system.
