Emergency road triangles.

I am thinking that a good b-day gift for my husband might be some of those orange triangles that you see truckers put up at the side of the road when they breakdown. I don't know if those are really needed for 5ers and if they are how many do I need to get him?

I got mine at the local Flying J truck stop. I have 3 orange triangles and 3 small flashing stobe lights on little tripods. These each take 2 AA batteries and have an orange flashing stobe light. I think the lights are 20" tall, have not had to use them on the road yet, but have used them infront of the house while loading the coach one night. It was dark and you could not really see that I had all the slides extended into the street, the strobes worked perfect. You could also check your local auto parts stores, they would probably have the triangles as well.

If you like to order on line there are several safety companies on line. Do a search for safety supplies or equipment. I ordered some stuff for my son-in-law for Christmas for his speeder (Motor Car). I don't remember the name but that is how I found them. Really prompt service and good prices.

Yes, you really need them. It's a safety thing that all truckers and busses use when they break down on the highway. They usually use three of them and place them strategically behind the rig for abou 100-150 feet. You can get them at any truck stop and Camping World.

I too urge you to have those triangles for your safety. At least three of them. Take care.

I would get at least 3. If you use them spread them a 100 feet apart. Gives on coming traffic plenty of warning. I got mine at the local True Value Hardward store for around $9 apiece.

As a former state police traffic cop, I would say the 3 triangles at 50, 100, and 150 feet behind the rig would be the minimum. I would also have some red or amber flashing units of some sort to place closer to the RV for low visibility situations.
More is better if they are placed correctly. Any law enforcement person would be glad to tell you, in advance, what would be good.
Better safe than dead.

Glenn and Lorraine, That appears to be one of the best safety triangles I have ever seen. When I used to drive a truck I used the reflective type but I really like these. Great posts people. Let's keep everybody alive and well out there
