replacing carpet with pergo type flooring

A while back I saw an article on taking up the carpet and replacing it with a laminate type flooring. Can anyone helpme witht his post

Well here I go, went down Jerrys in Eugene and got my laminate for 99cents a foot and need 112 sq ft. So pulled carpet up and took out the vinyl type flooring and need just to pull up carpet under slider and can start in with floor. Good thing I have a friend who does this for a living will keep u posted and am taking pictures

Mac,

I don't believe there is that much of an increase in weight. When I pulled up that carpet, padding and the "ten pounds" of staples holding it down, I couldn't beleive how heavy the carpet and padding actually were. The laminate flooring is only a 1/4" or so thick and half of that is the foam backing. Since I removed the built in dinette and removed a recliner when I did my remodel I think my coach is probably lighter than before.

Well the floor is done!
It took me about six hours as it rained all weekend and had the saw in the garage and made many trips back and forth.
It took five boxes of laminate at $20 a box, took about six hours at my time. Pulled up the carpet at corners and cut to vents with carpet knife. Scraped vinal off at sink and cut carpet to edge of slider and used an undercut saw to rip carpet from under edge of slider. Laid three rows of laminate down and slid under slider about 2 in. Then laid rest of floor and cut out for vents as we went along. It went fairly easy and just had to take my time. MY wife loves it so I CAN DO NO WRONG THIS WEEK!! Just have to install quarter round and am done. As soon as I get my new printer and camera working I will add pictures. It is a big improvement as my 5er is 2752rl model and the light green capert had faded to blue and showed the dirt real bad. So for a hundred bucks I have a better floor and much nicer looking 5er.
