On the new issue of trailer life there is an add for a LP gas level indicator, has anybody tried to contact this outfit? I have called and e-mailed and gotten no responce. Its a full page add that most likely cost a bunch, can't figure out if its a scam or what.Called a Truma.

I did a search on this and found it in a UK website:

http://www.autotrail-online.co.uk/tr...vel-check.html

and it's about 74 English pounds. Ouch! It could be double that in U.S. dollars. For that price I'll use a sticky type or the inline gauge for way less money.

Here's another link:

http://www.truma.com/int/en/gas-supp...regulators.php

and it describes this device cannot be used for refillable cylinders. WHAT?! That alone makes it unsuitable for our purposes however I think they meant to say, "not intended for non-refillable cylinders since their diagram shows a refillable cylinder.

Art, I think that's a terminology difference. These work with ultrasonic and as long as it's clean metal tank.. they should work just fine. Can't be the new fiberglass as they require something for the signal to bounce off of.

EDIT:

Incidentally, if you Google "Gaslevel Check" HERE you'll see another. There's a demo on YouTube. Seem to be all European. Where is the N.American leadership

Even that German one is 25 Euros. How much is that in U.S. dollars? I understand it's ultrasound and should provide good accuracy but the price seems high. And why should it matter if the tank is refillable or not? It is ultrasound and shouldn't matter.

You don't think the signal would bounce off the fiberglass walls of the "plastic" tanks. Since most of the new plastic tanks have a clear window, you shouldn't need to use an ultrasound toola anyway, yes?

It might have its uses somewhere like in Europe where anything of enjoyment is super expensive. Maybe that's why the Americans haven't jumped on it yet either - too expensive for the U.S. market?

RichR, let us know how you like it after you buy one. This experiment is too expensive for my wallet. I do have a very thin wallet.
