Big Sky Full Paint Option
I must confess that I have not been keeping up with the changes that Keystone-Montana has come up with on their new models, but one thing that I have noticed is that the newer models have an option of a Big Sky full paint exterior. I am assuming this option is available on all Montana models now, can anyone confirm this. I am really wondering if the option can be applied to previous models?? Does anyone know if Elkhardt will offer a service to strip older model decals and apply a full-body exterior paint scheme?? I realize it would be pricey, but this is the only aspect of the "white" Montana that DW has questioned from the get-go and I believe I see a glimmering opportunity to earn some really big points with her. Any knowledge out there in MOC land??

Why go to the factory. Some body shops will do it. There was a guy in Knoxville, TN, don't remember name, was doing it for around $2500 for a 40' rig about 2 years ago.

I believe they did away with the Big Sky as a unit. Now you get Big Sky option packages. Same thing, just a different way to order.

I am aware that the Big Sky has been discontinued, what I am wondering is whether we can take a previously purchased unit and have the Big Sky paint option done on it at the factory? Guess I will have to ask Keystone, I was hoping someone who too the factory tour at the rally may have an inkling if it is possible. I might consider a third-party but would prefer a factory application to preserve future value.

Bingo they were doing that when we went to the rally in 09. they had one I know sitting outside all white ready for paint. So you should be able to get it done. I saw one on another site that had been repainted and remodeled great looking rig. So you might want to look at someone close by to do it. good luck

Bingo, I remember Charles Wade, a District rep at Keystone, saying: "We can build one of these in one day but it takes us two weeks to get it painted". That was two years ago so don't know what the current timing is......Perhaps they have their own paint shop now.....I seriously doubt if they want to go into the commercial paint business, but who knows!!!!

I just got a 3455 a few weeks ago and the full body paint was offered to me as an option. I don't remember the price. I turned it down, but the units with body paint that I have seen are pretty nice.

Until they start painting the end of the slides I would not have them do it.

Have to agree with Dennis, to do the ends of the slides correctly, they would have to be removed. You have 5 and I don't think that would be cheap.
The full body paint Big Sky option is available on any model number 3400 and higher.
Bingo, I know you're trying to make Cathy happy, but if you tell her how much money you are saving by not getting the paint, maybe that will help.

Normally I would agree this maneuver just might work, but isn't Bingo getting a jet ski?
Man, just watching from the side lines have I learned a lot, I am going to have to really up my plays in order to even be in the game here.

DarMar,
"Be in the game"??? Shucks, I just folded. Guess I just have to stick with my plain white peeling decals rig.

When we got our Big Sky it was our understanding that it was sent somewhere else for painting. Once it went to paint it was there for a couple of weeks. There are some really nice paint shops in Elkhard.

When we went on the tour at the rally last fall they had a full body paint unit set up. They avoided having to paint the slide ends by making them with the textured shiny black fiberglass panels. Since the color scheme was black and gray they fit right in. It did look very good.

We were told by Arem that the reason for not doing the ends was two-fold... One is all the scratches you could/would get moving the slides in and out.. Two was the additional cost. The fiberglass panels is a good solution imho.
