Mountaineer Owners bed question

Just picked up our 2011 324RLQ on Friday and just noticed that the queen bed mattress overhangs the platform (board) 3" on each side, is this normal on the mountaineers? Our 08 Heartland the board was the same width as the mattress. If not normal who should I call dealer or Keystone? Ordered a new (good) mattress today because of the cheap ones they put in and just do not want to damage or break down a good mattress because its not supported properly.

My mattress hangs over a couple inches on sides and end. I just bought a full queen 12" memory foam from Costco. We love it. I had to extend the plywood base 5" by over lapping an 18" x 55" piece of 1/2" plywood. I layed in down on top of the platform, hanging over 5" and screwed it down. Its worked out great. The mattress hangs over 2" on the end and the slideout closes with the mattress pressed against the dresser. The overlap all around keeps you from scrapping your body on the plywood if the mattress moves.

I have 2010 324RLQ and yes the mattress overhangs the plywood base. Also. the plywood edges need sanding. I got a splinter first time I made the bed. Oh, you'll most likely want to add a 3" foam topper to your mattress.
