Electric Fireplace Shuts Down

My fireplace has been shutting down the blower and heat after running a short time. I wonder if it is the thermosat is turning it off prematurely. The trailer isn't that warm when shutting off. If I turn it clear off and restart 10 minutes later the heat comes on with blower.

The fireplace in our 09 was doing the same thing. I called the manufacturer, by the way are great to deal with, and I found the FP was over heating. the vents on the bottom were too small and not enough of them. They sent me a new vent panel and it fixed the issue.

May very well be the thermostat, but I would open it up and check the wiring connnections first thing. There have been several here who came close to having a fire from overheated terminations where the power cord comes in.

I've tried turning the heat up and no, it doesn't make a difference. The fireplace has been running now for about an hour, its warm inside our trailer and hasn't shut down. Like Swanny said, I think it might be restricted air flow and maybe overheating. Right NOW this minute it is working fine and is real warm inside.

I did the same thing as Swanny. Look at the bottom of the unit. There should be several rows of vents. If not, call Dimplex. It's an easy fix with a screwdriver. They will send you the part.

Our fireplace was acting like yours. Told the Montana rep. about it at the Fall Rally. He gave us a new one. It works fine and will run all day.

That happened to us last Spring and I used a industrial vacuum with nozzel to vacuum out the intake and exhaust vents and that must have cleared out any dust, lint, debris that was causing it to overheat and shut down. Maybe that is your problem.

2wanderers makes a good point. Ours was shutting down, too, and we have the recalled bottom louvered vents, etc.

Took ours apart today and cleaned out 3 years of dust. Now, it is working fine.
