Help- sewer boom
My 2011 5th wheel has a sewer boom. The design let's you store 10ft of cola sable hose; seems like a great idea right? I have never found an end piece that will fit on the end of the hose that will also fit into the boom tube. Please help me understand before I tear it off.
Thanks for any help you can give.
John

We cut the ears off a cap to make it fit. Finally quit using it as boom and only for storage. Installed a knife valve on the end of drain and a clear flush valve on the end of the knife valve. Much better for us. Also use a slinky. Larry

We like that tube although many do not. We have a sewer cap that easily screws into the hose, so we just remove it when closing up the tube.

We do not put a cap on the hose when storing it in the tube. The only thing in it is shower water that gets run through it after dumping the kitchen and black tanks and that pretty much drains out after a couple of miles on the road.

I modified my boom. Made it longer to hold the full length of my Rhino hose. Check the thread in "additions and improvements".

Quote "The only thing in it is shower water that gets run through it after dumping the kitchen and black tanks and that pretty much drains out after a couple of miles on the road". You know it and I know it, but several other campers at various campsites pointing and hollering was enough for me. My boom is in some ravine serving as a wildlife sanctuary. Some have made it work for them, but I just didn't see that it would ever be too handy. I put a plastic door in the sheet metal part of the lower skirt and store it like my previous 2 fivers.

The tube works fine for us as well...seldom are we further away than 10' to the sewer dump at a site....lucky I guess...we just connect an elbow with a clear section on the end of it...no big deal...mine also swings more than 90 degrees as well..

If you mean that the end connector is too big to fit in the tube you just need to keep looking. I have bought four in four different places and just noticed a pile of them here in Elkhart at an RV surplus shop. Look for black ones, the red ones seem to be larger.

We had the same problem on our '11 3625. Elected to use the 'sewer boom' as a storage container for our artifical folding Christmas tree. Installed a 7'+ sewer 4"+ foundation drainage tube between steps and sewer connection. Bought it at Home Depot, slotted it for the Rhino sewer pipe, added a cap from a 4" irrigation pipe and slid our Rhino sewer pipe with fittings attached in and carry the whole thing down the road, out-of-site. Everything is attached by bunge cord and 2 small zip ties. Just went and return to Fairbanks, AK from Salome, AZ. Still good to go in Seattle.

Got a good look at this issue here at the Rally. We're one of the lucky ones, our boom will swivel completely to the rear. Apparently some years and some models got ones that work right and the rest don't.

Ours swivels sll the way to the rear. Thus far has worked Ok in every campground we have been in including here at the fall rally and it can't get much worse than here.

Ours also swivels all the way to the rear. I really like the tube, just wish it was about a foot or so longer.
