Circa 2005 Aluminun Wheel/Rim warning

My Montana suffered another slow tire leak/deflation due to a crack in the original Star Pattern Aluminum wheels. Since this is the second Wheel/Rim of this design to go bad I'm very grateful to Tredco for providing replacement wheels which are now holding all four tires - hopefully much more successfully than the original wheels.
I assumed the first failure was a random issue, but apparently, its systemic!
And very fortunately, the slow leaks did not contribute to catastrophic failures.

I just had to replace one of my Tredit T04 AL wheels on my new 2011 3150RL due to a very slow pin hole leak. Noticed the pressure dropped 10-12 lbs during the month it sat at the storage yard. Thought it was the valve but my tire shop put it in the dunk tank and we could see a micro stream of air coming from the wheel on the backside where the spoke meets the rim! Must have been a casting porosity defect. My RV dealer was able to get a replacement wheel from Tredit in under a week and had it remounted , balanced and installed.

Lesson for All; Monitor your tire pressures often, keep records, and take action if you notice changes.

My second failure was also a pinhole in the rim near the Valve Stem opening. Why it occurred 5+ years old is a mystery...
