2 Dumb Things

Got up this morning with replacing the Right Rear DS brake assembly, it was going great until..... I realized I ordered the wrong side and then to top it off.. I did not order the self adjusting assembly either :. Put it all back together and order the correct brake assembly this time. Should be here mid week I hope for installation next weekend

Everybody does dumb things. Last week I filled my diesel truck up with gasoline. Heck no I couldn’t have filled it up with regular oh no I had to fill it up with high test. I got it out without starting it so the only damage done was to my pocketbook and my pride.

When I got my first diesel 8 years ago, I was so afraid I would do that. Hasn't happened yet, thank the Lord. Curious, did you end up replacing the tank or just draining it?

Why not just reverse the shoes and springs and reuse what you have, Everything is identical except, maybe, the adjuster link. Even the backing plate is probably the same if it has two adjuster holes. Ordering wrong parts - all you need to do is look at my current "Embarrassed" thread. Ford even helped me screw that one up.

I bought a pump that hooks on an electric drill from Harbor Freight for $4 and pumped the tank out. I’m sure I left a bit of gas-diesel in the tank.
It was actually quite easy to pump gasoline instead of diesel. I always go to Kroger to get my fuel and with both pumps on the same island I just picked up the wrong one like I always do to fill my F150. What I can’t understand is how 36 gallon tank held 40 gallons. I put 11 gallons in at home drove 20 miles and put another 30 gallons in. I probably used over a gallon getting to the pump but that doesn’t account for 40 gallons.
All that matters is it’s fixed. No big deal no reason to be upset. I learned a long time ago being upset doesn’t help and only makes fixing things harder. That is what you get from being a machinist. Things will go wrong in a machine shop.

I did do that only to find out the self adjuster arm I reused that bushing is pressed into is all loose and causing the arm to get all out of wack.

Don't feel like The Lone Ranger, I did it too. Buddy walked up and said why are you pumping reg. into that diesel? Dang! called roadside assistance and they loaded truck to Ford to drain it out...never cranked it, $200 later all was good, still get razed about it some.

I put gasoline in my diesel in 2006. That was quite a few dumb things ago and not even sure it would rank in my to 10 dumb things now.

A couple of trips ago, I felt some resistance while backing up into our site during a monsoon rain storm. Even after getting out several times to get a good look at where I was going, I backed straight into a tree and pushed the bikes on there bike rack off there holders towards the campers back window. Luckily, I got out to look again before it was too late. Only damage was one bikes rim is now bent beyond repair.

Not necessarily! First lasted exactly 18 months. Second wrong wife lasted almost ten years but gave me a beautiful and awesome son. Third time I found the right lady. We have been married 32 years towards forever.
No one ever accused me of doing anything right the first time. Or the second time.....
