Sun shades on awning

Has anyone ever retracted their awnings with the sun shade still attached? I have a sun shade attached to my awning slid into the channel and would like to know if it would cause any damage or alter the operation of the awning if I left it attached when I would have to retract the awning due to winds even if I did not retract it completely.

Thanks I might have to look at switching to the EZBlock screen. Mine does not have the zippered end.
